Morning all! Gotta make this quick! It's Grim's Birthday and I am currently cooking a giant pan of BIRTHDAY BACON for my favorite guy. I have the day off and we are planning to have some fun adventures. Well... as much as we can "adventure" while everything is still closed!
No menu today... depends on where our adventures take us. But I envision there may be some steak in our near future!
QOTD: What was your most memorable birthday present? I was 8 and the world was freaking out about Cabbage Patch Kids. They were impossible to get, but my mom somehow got one for me. It was so special! :)
Morning all! JB hope you guys have fun and he has an awesome birthday!
Vert quick post from me as I have to get ready for work and I'm going off about 2 hours of sleep so my brain isn't functioning properly. Accountability yesterday was decent. Although my mom made me a sugar free chocolate delight that I had for an evening snack last night. It was amazing! She is always making me something.
QOTD: Most of my memorable gifts that come to mind were Xmas gifts.....like a puppy my brother and I got one year, a baby alive that I was obsessed with and a new bicycle. Birthday gifts are kind of fuzzy....but I do remember getting a guitar when I was around 6 from my grandmother. Mom still has the pictures from my birthday party that was held outside and I'm sitting there playing my new guitar with my grandmother sitting next to me singing and clapping along. Six months later she passed away.
B: premier shake
B2: coffee w/Splenda X 2
L: 2 oz low sodium turkey and a hard boiled egg
D: 4 oz salmon and yellow squash
S: L&F yogurt and fruit
Surgery: RNY on 1/23/19
G'morning everybody!
Happiest of birthdays to Grim. Made me laugh when I read you are cooking the biggest batch of birthday bacon. Very fitting.
Yesterday we were at Stanford most of the day. Through various tests during the last year or so we have come to find out DS has POTS. I'm linking this in case you wanna know what is, I hadn't heard of it before 3 months ago. The good news is he is young and healthy and the nerve endings can regrow. One symptom that I never thought is a problem is that his feet don't sweat, I always considered that a blessing in a young teenage man, but I guess it's a sign that the nerves in his feet don't get the order from his brain. To make a long story short after about 3 hours of different tests the neurologist confirmed he has POTS. But he also said he is young and heathy and we can regrow the nerve endings. He needs to talk to the cardiologist who saw DS about a year ago to come up with a treatment.
QOTD: In my household birthdays were always a big deal. My mom threw great parties for us with magicians, petting zoos, and anything else you could think about. Then I met DH who almost never had a bday party (can you say cultural clash?) So I had to train him about what we do for people's bdays. Well, he came through for my 40th and I will never forget that surprise. He had ordered a 3 foot white chocolate tower of Pisa for my bday cake. And a group of 4 singers who sang oldies Italian songs - picture a mariachi band but the Italian version. I was so proud of DH and he did surprise me.
My meals yesterday:
- B: protein coffee
- L: on the road - in-n-out protein style cheeseburger
- D: Costco chicken skewers, strawberries
- E: 30 minutes cardio + 45 minutes strength training
Happy hump day, everybody.

It is always scary when there is something wrong with your kids, but especially something like heart issues. I hope it resolves fairly quickly.

I also have POTS! I was just diagnosed in October and had never even heard of it. I've been doing tons of research to learn as much as I can.
The tilt table test was the last test for us to determine his condition. As you know there are various types of POTS. The neurologist thinks a beta blocker should help DS, but he wants to confirm his findings with the cardiologist before he can suggest a course of action.
The surprise in all this is that DS has NO symptoms. He doesn't feel when his heart rate gets elevated.
How are you? How did you find out?

For 5 years I felt like something was wrong. I would get racing heart for no reason even if I was sitting down doing nothing. I had chest pain, I would get really dizzy alot feeling like I was going to faint. I was always tired, nauseous, always freezing cold, blurred vision, headaches, just sick all the time. I went to tons of doctors and no one could figure it out. I was finally diagnosed by a cardiologist specialist who performed a bunch of tests but the tilt table test was also how i was diagnosed. Worst experience of my life I got so sick and almost passed out and they also determined I have Raynaud's from the tilt table because my feet and hands turned blue. That is awesome he has no symptoms. I hope he never gets them!
That sounds just horrible. I am so sorry.
From the symptoms you mentioned DS has/had the stomach issues, nausea (we thought it was iron deficiency), tiredness and fatigue (we thought he was being lazy - can you imagine how guilty I'm feeling now?). We even did the sleep study because we couldn't figure out how a 16-17 year old just wakes up tired. It was through all these various tests that his pediatrician kinda caught his heart elevation when he stood up from the exam table and put us on the route of these last tests to figure it out. During the tilt test they could see his heart elevation but he couldn't feel it, I'm happy his reaction to the test was not as bad as yours. Again, so very sorry.
I sure hope the beta blocker is the answer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRIM!!!! enjoy all the meats :)
I did well last 2 days started recording after a month or so of not - was seeing how I would do not recording, only eating at mealtimes, and only just enough and I was successful at not overeating (which is a huge feat for me) but not losing. So for me that means I need to record and up the water. the scale dropped 2 pounds yesterday but it was a high number to begin with for me.
I worked then went retail arbitrage shopping after work where while I was paying realized I didn't have my cards... luckily I had just enough cash to cover and got some amazing new things also yayyy
QOTD: I also was in that begging for a cabbage patch doll... and I still have her- my first one was blonde with pigtails and was named emma. My second was a little bald boy named lucas Reginald.
