It is a bright, sunny, but windy day here! I have some sewing of slipcovers and some food preparation to do today, but otherwise I want to be outside.

QOTD: What's the best thing you've got going on in your life at the moment? I would have to say my chihuahua Justice. He gives me a reason to take lots of walks outside, he snuggles with me whenever I sit or lie down, and he is happy and cheerful 99% of the time. He never dwells on negativity and doesn't get stressed or anxious. He really makes a difference in my spirits and gets me moving.

B: Coffee! WW zero point banana/egg pancake

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

Good Sunday morning menu friends.

I am exhausted already and the day is just starting. Every time I fell asleep I'd wake up to pain. Just a cruddy night sleep wise.

the wind was up high all night and still is this morning. It's hot and windy...like stepping into a blow dryer. Gust as high as 35mph I heard. We have definitely had higher but it's still rather annoying!

qotd: I would say my ability to hold on to hope in adversity. I get a lot of crap shoveled my way(don't we all) and I'm able to eventually move past that.

b:oats

l:???

d:tilapia fillet

s:not sure yet

Morning! It's going to be another hot day with no much to do. I'll probably read some more of my book, maybe work on some homework, and my daughter has her dance recital this afternoon. It's outside and will be scorching in a costume I'm sure. Luckily, due to restrictions it will only be about a half an hour total.

QOTD: Where we live. We love, LOVE living in NC. We're lucky that although we're in a red state, we're in a blue area and have a lot of like minded people around us. We live in a place where even though we are social distancing we have neighbors to chat with as they walk by and the weather is ideal for us.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x3
  • Eggs, Cheese, Sausage
  • Stromboli and a Vegetable

Where you live does sound lovely. Staying inside all the time just doesn't feel healthy (as we have seen with this pandemic).

Chapel Hill is great. I had lots of high school classmates who went to school there, so I was there A LOT (I went to high school in Raleigh). If I ever moved back to NC, that's where I'd live. In fact, it's a lot like Madison (Wisconsin) where I live NOW, only Chapel Hill is quite a bit smaller. But exactly the same type of "vibe".

Yesterday was my first day at the pool. We have a really great turnout. We have social distancing rules in place and several people walk around with sprayers filled with disinfectants. They spray down any lawn chairs or chaise lounges as soon as people leave. They also keep spraying things like the handles on the pool ladders.

Pool noodles are considered absorptive, so not provided by the club this year. People can bring their own noodle if they want to use one, Families are encouraged to stay together and not mingle with other families. Only one family at a time is to use the dressing rooms.

It was in the high 80's yesterday and the pool is heated so it was really nice for swimming. The last 15 minutes of every hour is adults only swim and that is the only time I got in the water. They do believe that the chlorine in the water kills any viruses.

People are being very careful about distancing, but kids are kids. So we set up an area with only adults and that worked great yesterday. The warm water and hot sunshine felt great.

It is only going to be 73 today, so I will be at the pool for a while, but take advantage of the cooler weather to cut grass and do a bit of yard work.

The amazing thing I have going for me at the moment is my job. I really love my company and the people I work with. Ten years ago, I retired and never expected to work again. Then I found a new passion and followed it. Life is certainly full of surprises.

I'm glad the pool is open for you. Water of any type is restorative IMHO. Interesting that you went back to work after retiring. I can't imagine doing that though people ask me all the time if I think about it now that DH is gone, and the answer is Nope.

I worked for a year after my husband died. I felt like I wanted to no longer be tied to the job, so took the early retirement option. I spent my summers at the pool, joined a line dance group where we took lessons three times a week and traveled to different clubs three or four times a week.

I traveled, joined groups to improve my city, met with politicians, made signs and marched in demonstrations. I sold my home, bought another one and spent time making improvements.

I decided to try a part-time job. I was driving home from the mall, and saw a hiring sign and just walked in and applied. It was doing tech support for iPhones and they hired me on the spot. It was all done over the phone and it was fun for me. I did that for three years and then the company changed owners and the new company only wanted full time employees, so I quit.

It was two years before I found another part-time position that I thought I would enjoy. It was working from home and helping people using TurboTax. I have always been interested in doing taxes and in tax software so it was a natural fit for me. The company, Intuit, urged me to become an Enrolled Agent and I finally took the exams and moved into the tax advisor role.

I work full time January through April 15 and can then take the rest of the year off. This year is a strange one because taxes are due on July 15, so I am working a few hours a wee****il July 15. The questions that I get are complex and I enjoy doing the research and learning new things. I believe I am healthier when always working on new challenges.

But ten years ago, I would have also said Nope.
