How many years do/did you see the Bariatri dr after surgery

11 years for me and I still go every year. Labs are important and family doctors don't always want to do vitamin and mineral labs. Also, my bariatric surgeon has done surgery for bowel obstruction and a couple of endoscopies since my RNY 11 years ago. I also see the dietitians annually and that is great for me. I feel like seeing my bariatric surgeon is "insurance" if anything digestive related becomes an issue.

My PCP really is the type to refer out for many of my health issues. Hematology manages my anemia but GI in my city has been nearly a ghost town for over a year and have basically said I need to go to my bariatric team for GI issues. My bariatric team is decent about ordering labs and working on nutritional issues. They didn't do my original surgery but have worked with me to follow up on complications and issues.
