What has been your favorite non-scale victory?
I have been reflecting on my WLS journey and remembering a few non-scale victories. Of course, one of the best ones has been the fact that I no longer need certain medications! But clothes...being able to fit into "regular" sizes and to have selections that I did not have before my surgery has been priceless. I am still camera shy and don't like to be in pictures but I feel so much better and hopefully my self-esteem will improve.
Early, my most significant NSVs were getting rid of the Insulin and riding roller coaster, for the first time, with my then 10 year old son (he STILL talks about it - we were on The Titan, at Six Flags Over Texas)...
More recently, and something a "Never-Been-We-Have-Been-There" could really understand: Over the past 4 months, due to medical concerns (non WLS), I have had numerous CT scans, MRIs, been moved to stretchers, had to be assisted out of bed, etc, etc...not one single time was my SIZE or WEIGHT an issue...except when the hospital Dietician came into my room, trying to entice me, TO eat, because I just was NOT hungry, and was rapidly losing weight...What a new concept, for me - not hungry!!!!
One morning, waiting in the hall, outside the CT scan room, I couldn't help but hear a large man having difficulty "fitting in the machine". The staff was great, but the man was still horrified. I have been BTDT, and wanted to cry, for him..
There are sooooooooooooooo many more important things, than a mechanical box, on a floor!

We Can Do Hard Things

Primarily the variety of new things I do! Also, in these interesting times, I have to say the improvements in my overall health and reduction in comorbidities (no longer HBP, Type 2 remission, better pulmonary healthy because my activity level is higher) is a NSV that can?t be overstated right now.
