Morning everyone! It's a beautiful day here today!

Today I have to go into work to pack up all my students things! I'm sure I will get emotional it is so sad that the school year had to end this way. I miss my students! I really hope things can go back to normal in September.

QOTD: Are you strongly connected to your heritage? Well no not really! Crazy story - I took the Ancestry test in January and actually found out my father who has raised me the past 37 years is not actually my father. So I have now found my biological father and am getting to know my heritage on that side now. I'm mostly German! Should have known with the blue eyes and blonde hair lol.

Breakfast: Strawberry Banana smoothie (with almonds, chia seeds, granola, greek yogurt, almond milk, and honey)

Lunch: Protein shake

Dinner:Probably leftover WW crack chicken since fiance will be working

Snacks: greek yogurt/not sure what else

Oh wow, Nikki...I have heard about things like that happening! What a shock! Was your 37 years dad in the know? Because I imagine it is surprising as the daughter to find out your bio dad is someone different but if you are the man who raised the child unknowingly, I imagine that is a surprise...

(not to pry, just curious, but don't feel you have to answer!)

I don't mind at all, I will see if I can explain it right because it is such a crazy story. So my parents were not together when I was born, my mom had called my dad and said she didn't feel good and thought she might have appendicitis. Surprise, it was me!! My mom was scared to tell anyone so she hid her pregnancy from everyone for the entire 9 months. My dad says he knew the timing wasn't right and that I wasn't his but the moment he saw me and held me he knew he wanted me. So he never told my mom that he knew I wasn't his and from then on he was with my mother and they got married. They did get divorced when I was in 6th grade. No one ever told me the truth! So this past summer my father had gotten a call from someone claiming to be his daughter. Apparently, he does have a biological daughter and we are 2 months apart. We met her and I just never felt that sisterly bond I thought I should feel (I'm an only child and always wanted a sibling). So since she found him off of Ancestry I decided to do Ancestry. Never in my life did I expect to find out he wasn't my biological father. So I met him and my biological sister and now we are all one big happy family. It really is like an episode of Maury lol

Wow! Crazy but great!

My two youngest were adopted and we opened up their adoptions when they were in their mid-teens (they always knew they were adopted). We know most sides of their families, but DS's birth family has become an extension of ours. His birthmother lives about 5 miles from us and he calls both of us Mom. We spend Christmas Eve at her house and get together with and without DS on a regular basis (and obviously he does with her as well). DS has a first cousin who he is really close with who looks enough like him to be a sister. Some people think this is all strange but it works well for us.

DD has been using DNA to try to get her birthfather to acknowledge her. He never knew about her until she found out who he was a few years ago and so far doesn't want to pay any attention. DD is 32 so she just wants to know what he and his children are like.

I'm on a couple of FB groups where "search angels" find biological family members for other people - mostly adoptees, but sometimes cases like yours. That kind of thing happens A LOT!!

JB, i will welcome our new alien overlords. I've been waiting for them for 3.5 years (give or take), lol.

qotd - I have always found it fascinating that everyone determines they were related to some historical figure -- in my family they say the same. I'm very familiar with my maternal ancestry (polish and Australia (Northern European)) and what I've heard/know on that side aligned with my 23&me and my National Geographic geno testing. I know less about my paternal side although the same tests put paid to the family legend that we had Native American ancestry (I have more middle eastern than Native American!). My half sister and I both did the tests so it was fascinating to see the differences; I hope my half brother does one day too.

i am in a food funk and my stomach is annoyed with me so no plans for food other than I'm sure I will have some. I also cancelled my Pilates workout today so I can go sleep this afternoon. I did get 30 minutes on the elliptical though.

have a great Wednesday everyone.
