Howdy folks, day 6 post-op and i have a few questions i could not find anywhere, how much sipping at one go is acceptable? I sip 1oz every 5 minutes +/-, two days ago i was so scared to burst my pouch but i was so thirsty i downed 3.3oz quickly but didn't feel anything, one of the things i loved before surgery was to down 8oz or more of water quickly, will i ever be able to have atleast a refreshing cup going down quickly? I feel like drinking a waterfall! Thanks in advance.

Yes you will drink normally again. Right now they says sips because your healings after you heal there should be no problem. I drink a 23 oz bottle in 25 min every morning on the way to work. Hang in there this will all pass it's just uncharted territory for you right now, it gets way better quickly

I remember those days when I could barley get a med cup full of water down. It is very important for healing in the beginning. It does get better.

You won't be able to win any chugging contests, but you'll certainly be able to drink normally.

Some people have to drink, sip, very slowly for several weeks after surgery. Others can drink pretty normally after 1 week. Everyone heals a little differently.

It does get better and you will be able to drink water normally again. Hang in there!

The drinking levels are mostly minimums to make sure you don't dehydrate.

Your pouch is a funnel, so while chugging might give you discomfort for a hot minute while it drains, it won't cause any damage.

Drink at whatever amount you are comfortable and don't wait until you are thirsty!

No. Never. I was a guzzler before surgery and miss it so much. I drink a glass of water slowly. I'm 2.5 years out.

I'm a little over 2 years and I can drink a 20 ounce bottle of water in three swallows, no issues.
