Another late start for me!

JB, your QOTD is always awesome. You excel at coming up with interesting and thought-provoking questions. Like Erin, I really don't like clutter, so I think I would collect languages. I am fluent in two, can speak two others a little bit, but I would love to just travel the world and learn to speak languages while being immersed in the culture of the country! I would love to tackle Italian and Arabic next, but it's not really feasible right now.

I am down a pound this week though we know that can be a rounding error. But still.

B: 3 oz boars head ever roast, 2 tbs hummus, 2 tbsp Lebanese garlic dip

L: Thin tortilla with sauce and cheese baked like a "pizza"

D: Leftover shrimp sautéed in olive oil and olives. It was very delicious and surprisingly filling last night! While the rest of the table ate macaroni and cheese, I didn't mind one bit.

E: I ended up on a 5 mile walk last night which was great. I think today will include a bike ride!

I have been using some of the time I have gotten back from no commuting to learn Spanish and I'm loving it! I had taken Latin for 4 years and French for 2, so I have a just barely passing comprehension of both but nothing resembling fluency. It would be so cool to come out of this with a whole new skill (besides bread tasting).

Kris is ALL about bettering himself during this time - works out 7x a week, is doing an online certification 12-week course...meanwhile I do Zoom happy hours. He's an alien lol.

Damn him! I mean, I am legit trying to be better... I take language lessons and I bought a treadmill... but as much as I do good, I am also eating way too much bread and have managed to watch 9 seasons of the Walking Dead in 2.5 months. Its always one step forward, one step back for me.

I feel guilty that unless I count putting puzzles together as a skill, I am not coming out of this with improvements. I can stay focused and get through work but once that's done, my brain hits overload. I have 9 books going because I can only focus for about a chapter. It's bad.

I'm on my 7th puzzle, I try to get up from my desk a couple of times a day and work them for a few minutes. I think it helps my focus, or so I tell myself...

Really struggling mentally today.Scale was up a bit again, which ****** me off because I was so good yesterday despite wanting to eat crap all day... I chose salad and fresh produce and didn't get the results I felt like I should see. Ugh...

Posted this on FB today which basically sums up how re-opening our business is going: "After emailing our local MLA for clarity, I finally got some answers. Here's what I know for sure... You can open mid may, which isn't the actual middle of May on the 15th, it's after the long weekend, which may or may not be the 19th, but probably not, since the salon close order doesn't expire till May 30th, so when we say mid may we mean probably June 1st... but we might mean May 19th, but we aren't telling... only some can open at first, use your own judgement who that is, and open slowly, whatever that means... Maybe just pick only your favourite clients? Oh, and follow work safe guidelines, which has no specific guidelines for hair salons because you're unregulated, but if you are caught not following them, you're gonna be shut down and fined. Be warned you will have to pay back CERB if you're not eligible, but don't book clients or open till who the **** knows what actual day, and good luck keeping your business open very very slowly... See? Clear! "

QOTD: I LOVE fiestaware and have a small collection, but am limited by space. If I had more space (and money!) I would have a large display area in my kitchen with a beautiful array of bright cheerful dishes in 4 of my favourite colours, orange, teal blue, purple, and pink.

Meal Plan:

  • GF toast with butter and crunchy almond butter (not technically "on plan" but I'm craving it so fitting it in)
  • A salad with the usual suspects on it
  • Leftover chicken curry
  • Snacks as needed: nuts, fruit, veggies, hummus...

I am so sorry about how frustrating the "rules" are. Where I am we have a similar issue--the stay at home orders are being relaxed starting on Monday but the Governor is not telling anyone UNTIL Monday what businesses might be allowed to reopen? It's ridic. I am a City of Boston Employee, and we have no idea if/when we will return to work. We were on a 30 minute call today to basically say...we don't know. Ok.

It's very challenging to run an appt based business without a firm opening date... and no guidelines so we know what to order in regards to PPE, not to mention out of stock and slow shipping issues. We've spent close to $2000 on supplies and equipment so far without actually knowing what will be required. It's no wonder my stress levels are through the roof!!

They must be hinting directly to some of the businesses? I got an email from my eye doctor that starting Monday they can now have non-emergency appointments again.
