What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

Good Morning, my friends! Hope you all survived another boring weekend. I was in a rough place yesterday. I woke up at 3am and by 9am I had accomplished everything that I could think of! I cooked, crafted, paid bills, and sent emails... The rest of the day was interspersed with tv and internet and sitting, sitting, sitting. Because surprise... it was pouring and cold. BOO. I tried napping, but have you ever felt too tired to sleep? Anyway, I was glad to get a good night sleep last night and put that boring, awful day to bed (literally). And today is new treadmill day! I am so excited to start moving again--I think it will really help my mood.
On a more positive note, I have done a few craft projects that make me happy. I have learned to make paper flowers, which I hope to perfect, so that I can start making paper flower wreaths! I was also inspired by Kelly to make a cute sign for my coffee bar :)
Accountability: On top of everything else that was annoying me yesterday, I also had the worst acid reflux I've had post-op, so I had a gnawing, growling stomach to contend with, too. I stuck to my menu, though, except for some cookies in the evening. I used 3 of my rollover points.
QOTD: What is your earliest memory of misbehaving? I have a really incredible memory of my childhood--I have a lot of very clear memories of things that happened when I was 2 years old! Anyway, this is so stupid, but I totally remember my mom yelling at me for going through the garbage and touching things when I was a toddler, but I kept doing it anyway, because I thought the colors were pretty and I wanted to touch whatever was in there.

Morning! We got to see our friends yesterday (from a 20' distance in the yard) and it was really nice to talk to someone in person other than the people in our house. They literally sat against the wall of the garage in lawn chairs in the shade and we sat on the back porch. Oh, and on Friday evening Jon and I drove to Sonic for Diet Cherry Limeades. That was my one birthday request, but it wasn't warm enough on my birthday to go in the Jeep. I love Sonic Limeades, but they always screw it up and give you not diet. This time in order to do no contact payment, we ordered with the app where we could very clearly put in each piece as "diet" and they still screwed one of them up. I actually bring my blood sugar meter with me and use it to test them before I drink it. I have drank a non-diet one before and suffered the consequences. I've even complained to them via their website/email multiple times, without any response. It can be such a huge issue for people with diabetes! Which means I should just stop going, but luckily this time around they corrected it no issue and we both go our limeades!
QOTD: I don't have a good memory for things when I was little. My memories are spotty until about 5th grade! However, I do remember a time that I got the "wait until your father gets home!" speech and sat in our den terrified from then until he did arrive home. My father rarely was the disciplinarian in our house (or anything parenting related honestly) when I was little, so I don't know that I actually ever had any repercussions. I was probably 5 or 6 then. I have a burned in memory of the first time I was grounded though. My BFF lived next door (which was about an 1/8th of a mile down the road). I wasn't supposed to be at her house when her parents weren't home, but she was 2 years older than me and stayed alone often. I had been playing in her her yard and she heard the phone ring, ran to answer it and I followed her into her empty house and it was my mother and she assumed I had been playing inside all along and I got grounded.

Yay for seeing people! And for your Sonic drink! I have never been to a Sonic--they didn't come to MA until I was post-op so I never bothered. Sounds yummy!

My wine Slushy was not diet but super yummy glad I did not get sick on it. I may try a Sonic Diet limeade and add some Tito's now that sounds good. Hmmm. Sounds like I got plans for Saturday. Thank you

My earliest memory was a fight with my sister and we were pulling each others hair. My mother came out to the garage and separated us and said we would be both shaved bald if we ever did that that again. She was tough and probably would have done it. I know we never did that again.
Yesterday was a cold, wet day and I spent it by tackling an organizing project I had been putting off. I analyzed what I have been eating and definitely need to be more protein forward. I have been eating what I can get and not been as picky about brands and I don't like the way my body feels with some of the substitutes from the delivery service.
i am going to make a grocery trip this week and try to get things that I really like and have more nourishment. Part of this quarantine has been learning what the rest of the world eats and my body does not like it. Food is fuel for me and I need to find some that is high octane. Less starch and more eggs, cheese, and meats.

Good morning everyone! I was trying a new diet yesterday with just three meals a day with no snacking in between and even though I stuck to plan perfectly except for the handful of almonds I had.....I don't think that diet is going to work for me. So it's back to my 4-6 small meals. I was also up another pound this morning. Ugh! Hoping it's jus****er retention, but I plan on being super strict today. I also ordered new batteries for my food scale so I'm hoping that fixes the issue so I can get back to weighing everything I put into my mouth! They are supposed to arrive Wednesday. Another thing I've been more conscious of these past few weeks is making sure I wait 30 minutes after a meal to drink.
QOTD: Hmmm I have lots of memories of my childhood, but not many of me misbehaving although I'm sure I did my fair share! One memory I have was when I was around 6 and I was outside playing with my cousins. It was winter and we had a very rare snowfall that year so we were all playing in the snow. My cousin laid down in the snow to make a snow angel or something and his older brother dared me to sit on his head while he was laying there. Well I had to do it because he was calling me a chicken if I didn't. As soon as I did he starts screaming and crying and his older brother runs into the house and tells his mother and my mother what I had done. I got into so much trouble. Not only was my mom angry with me, but my aunt as well and of course they did not want to hear about it being a dare. They were only concerned with punishing me.

Yeah, I can't do 3 meals only! I know it looks like I eat a lot, but I really just have tiny meals all day. Lunch might be 5 bites of something, but that doesn't hold me until dinner. so I have to eat an apple or cheese stick or something before dinner which is another 5 bites.

Yeah I think small meals throughout the day is the best plan for me. Yesterday felt like torture! I ate dinner around 5 and by the time I went to bed around 10 my stomach was growling. I know some people who can do it, but it's not for me. As soon as the batteries arrive for my food scale (hopefully it's just the batteries) I am going back to basics and weighing everything again! I think it was 2-4 ounces of dense protein that was recommended? I'll have to refer back to my pre-op booklet.

For the next 3 days I'm going to do the liquid diet that we have to be on prior to surgery. They suggested doing at least a 3 day trial of it ahead time so we're aware of how it's going to be. One of my friends is going to do 3 days along with me to offer support.
Youngest memory of getting in trouble my brother and I were probably around 8 and 9, we had an old barn on the property that we used to go explore. Well the one day we found what we thought were just a bunch of old windows, so we decided we throw some crab apples at them. Bad idea, we were unaware my dad got them from a home my uncle remodeled and was going to use them in the garage we were building. We had to do extra chores to work off him needing to buy replacement windows.

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming surgery :)
A few tips:
- Use a blender and mix your shakes with ice---the thicker they are are the slower you will drink them, and the more satisfied you'll be.
- Get creative with flavors--http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com has really great shake recipes. If you like the shakes you are more likely to stick to it.
Good luck!
