What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?

Hi Friends! It's Tuesday for those who are keeping track!
I was really good about staying off of email throughout the 3 day weekend so hopefully I will have enough to do to stay busy today. The Mayor of Boston finally acknowledged yesterday that he is "sure" we won't go back to school on May 4th, but he is just waiting for the Governor to announce it. We are all on edge--I wish they would just tell us!
I am so bored with food. We almost ordered out last night but the delivery costs were so outrageous that I stopped myself. By the time I left a generous tip for the poor soul who was going to schlep it to us, it was going to be over $65 for two of us to have a normal sized meal. I just couldn't justify it. Which leads me into my accountability...
Accountability: Bored with dinner and deciding not to order out... I just gave up, and had too many cheese and crackers for dinner. I am limited by the food I have in the house, but I poured through WW meal ideas and I picked a few recipes today that are new and different. Hopefully that shakes things up a bit.
QOTD: Give us a 4 word sentence to describe your stay at home life! Here are a few from me:
- Missing nature and Starbucks.
- Too many snacks here.
- House won't stay clean.

Morning! I've played that delivery fee dance before! A couple weeks ago I input everything to order Jersey Mikes. I like their "Sub in a Tub" and the rest of the family is amenable to their food too, so it's a good option for us. It seemed super expensive to have it delivered but the delivery company included "Service Charges" in the same line as taxes and then also an additional delivery fee. It was hard to tell exactly what they were up-charging. I ended up going out to the Jersey Mike's website and putting in the order for pickup and it was $21.50 cheaper than having it delivered (and that was with still generously tipping the worker who made our subs!). We ended up braving the pick up because I just couldn't stand the delivery fees.
I've seen articles flying around about how you "shouldn't" use delivery companies like Uber Eats and Grubhub because they charge up to 30% to the restaurant and it doesn't help to keep local business open. I'm conflicted by that because on one hand it makes sense, but on the other if they don't offer another delivery option and you're supposed to stay in your house they are limiting your options right? On the same token I've seen a lot of argument about if we should even be getting take out at all because those employees are being put at risk for "fun food". The flip side of that coin is, I'm sure they want income and to continue to work.
In the world of social media opinions is there really ever a right answer?
QOTD: Pretty much over it.
My Food:
- Coffee w/ Cream x2
- I'm out of eggs until our grocery delivery this evening and that never happens! I have left over ham from dinner last night and some sweet potatoes. So I probably will have that. Or maybe some bacon? Oh! I do have two hard boiled eggs in there I can have.
- 1/2 a wrap with turkey/cheese and avocado
- Chicken and veggies

I think the best option I have seen is to purchase gift cards from your favorite local restaurants to give them an infusion of cash while they are closed or limited, and you get to use it when they are reopened. It doesn't solve for the delivery workers though... :(

Something else to think about delivery services: I did a curbside pick up a couple of weeks ago and a few delivery people came there while I was waiting outside for my order to be ready. I talked to one of them (from a distance). She wasn't worried AT ALL about coronavirus because she irrigated her sinuses with boiled water and orange peel every night. I decided there was no way I want an intermediary delivering my food who is potentially more likely to bring me the virus than if I do curbside pick-up. IMHO

you are mistaken. It was an orange peel.
It actually can work. They spray the oranges with so much chemicals that probably can kill anything.
