What's on your Sunday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning, everybody!
Did anybody see the video of the Rolling Stones playing over Zoom? Mick sounds pretty good for being 76 and just playing in his living room.
The haircutting went well last night. I have a bit of a ***** missing above one ear, but that is definitely worth the feeling of having it cut short. Looks like another nice day today. We got a truck load of mulch delivered yesterday, so will probably spend today spreading that in the garden beds. "You have two teenage sons at home", I hear you say. Unfortunately they are nocturnal.
Other than that a few minor house projects.
QOTD: Road Runner. Somebody once told me that all of the cartoons that I liked lacked dialogue.
Breakfast: sausage and cottage cheese
Snack: Protein bar
Lunch: Tenderloin
Snack: nuts
Dinner: TBD. Have leftovers from yesterday
Have a great day, all!

Mom of teen boy here... Any quarantine survival tips?!

Well, "survival" has actually been pretty easy for us because they sleep while we wake and vice versa. And they are exquisite social distancers, seldom leaving their rooms or logging off their computers.
But I do have to give them some credit, they helped my wife spread the mulch for awhile before turning in for their 4-12 PM sleep time.
You can ask Sheila during the week as well because she has a teenage son.

Unfortunately mine has online schooling to do during the day so we are on basically the same schedule. And our house is only 630 sq ft so no actual social distancing happening other than when he's in his room on his PS4... we both have severe hayfever so going outdoors is out right now. Fun times. haha Could be worse, but nice to know I'm not the only one here with a teen during quarantine. Nice work on the mulch spreading. :)

Good Sunday morning! First I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who welcomed me to this group yesterday. You really made my day. I've been needing some positive connection.
Sundays are my favourite because it's my teenage son's day off everything and I don't have to check in with him about getting his schoolwork or chores done. Who knew having teenagers could be MORE exhausting than the toddler phase?! He's a good kid, but geez, he knows how to push my buttons, and he takes procrastination to a whole new level... I just keep telling myself... 1 more year of high school... 1 more year of high school... I can do it! LOL
So yesterday was "Day 1" of my new healthy habits... I did my green juice fast for breakfast and lunch and was feeling vibrant and energized... and then around 3 PM I started crashing... By 4 PM I was super tired, hungry and cranky as all get out so I made myself a salad hoping that would help...
I went online and was checking out WW online (thanks Liz and White Dove for the rec!) and discovered they are have a free first month offer right now, with no sign up fee, and who can resist free?! I signed up and planned out my first day's (today) menu. The sign up questionnaire assigned me to the Green Plan, so I'm starting off with that, at least until I figure the program out. It's COMPLETELY different from when I did it a couple decades ago, and seems like the Green Plan is the closest to the plan I was used to doing back in the day. I get 33 pts for the day and only fruits and veggies are 0 points.
Then my period started (the tired, hungry and cranky made more sense!). All good intentions went out the window. I ate all the things... knowing I was starting WW today gave it a "last dinner" vibe, so that didn't help either...
Anyway... despite last night going sideways I weighed in this morning so I'd have a starting weight on WW, and was pleasantly surprised to find I was down 1.4 lbs from yesterday. I'll take it, and that was actually really encouraging. Today is my new Day 1 "do over". I'm going to be weighing in on Sundays going forward, not everyday. Or at least that's the plan right now.
QOTD: I don't really have a favourite cartoon... I grew up reading cartoons and we didn't have a TV till I was out on my own as an adult. Growing up, Betty in the Archie comic books was my favourite because I related to her the most. I was blonde, smart, and knew how to cook, and none of the boys liked me. LOL
Menu Plan (each meal is 6 oz total weighed as that's my sleeve capacity):
Meal 1: Half a toasted Udi (g/f) whole grain bagel with hummus, avocado, pickled red onion, and tomato. (8 pts)
Meal 2: Kale mixed greens salad with toasted pumpkin seeds, avocado, red lentils, feta, a dried date, pickled red onion, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. (15 pts)
Meal 3: Romaine lettuce wraps with taco meat (lean ground beef, onions, garlic, and taco seasoning), sour cream, salsa, and grated cheese. (9 pts)
Optional Snacks: Gala apple and/or mandarin oranges (0 pts), homemade sugar free frapp (2 pts)

It's a good one... I sometimes swap the dates with dried cranberries, and the lentils for chickpeas... So yummy!

I am counting beans (hummus) and lentils as my protein in my first two meals. ETA: Also have a little extra protein from the dairy and seeds.
