Decided to reactivate my OH account last night, and while perusing the board for the best way to find some accountability and support I noticed on someone else's post that they recommended this daily thread because you're very active and would be open to VSG'ers too, so I'm hoping I'm welcome here too.
I am a 43 yo laaaaady (guess that youtuber reference), mom of a teenager, and wife. I had VSG surgery in Nov 2017, lost a total of 90 lbs from my highest weight in the first year, maintained for a year, and have slowly regained almost 25 lbs in the last few months. The main reason is I've let old habits(munching on junk food) slip back in since the self isolation for COVID 19 with comfort/boredom eating, and it's getting worse the longer it lasts, so I want to nip it in the bud now before I regain even more!
My plan is to do a 24 hour liquid fast today to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle, then get back on my VSG nutritionist's recommended protocol. I also do a revised version of intermittent fasting in that I wait till I'm hungry before eating my first meal everyday (it's not strictly based on number of hours), and eat up to 18 oz of weighed food a day whi*****ludes 9 oz protein (meat, beans, lentils, nuts, dairy, seeds), 3 oz veggies, 3 oz carbs (gf whole grains, starchy veg, fruit), and 3 oz fat. I also go on a couple 6 km walks a week and drink lots of water, thus the username. ;)
QOTD: My husband is a hair stylist and we own a hair salon together (I manage the business end of things) here where I live in Canada, and the Provincial Health Officer shut down all salons on March 21st, so we're feeling the pain from the other side! I am due for a haircut too, but can't be bothered since I can't go out anyways...
ETA: Ha! Forgot to add my menu for today:
Breakfast: Green juice (ginger, lemon, romaine, cucumber, celery, apple)
Lunch: Green juice (same one)
Dinner: Water, water, water

Welcome! The thread is super fun and you will get to know a lot of great people!
I am 6.5 years out and also battling regain after four years of maintaining. Doing a liquid fast might be tough, but it may work for you. I find that when I eat pure dense protein, I am reminded immediately that I still have a restriction and don't have a normal persons stomach! Somehow I can eat large quantities of crappy food but give me 6 ounces of chicken breast and I can't fini**** I'm not sure how strict you want to be but the denser the protein, the less you will likely eat (portion size and calorie wise). May be good to give it a try!
It's a good idea to come back to OH - the support here is incredible. You are definitely not alone!

Thanks, Dcgirl! I appreciate the welcome and support. I've done keto in the past but it stops my bowels up something fierce, so I just try to eat a more balanced diet and get my recommended protein in so that doesn't happen. I also have a long history with an eating disorder, so balanced is healthier for me mentally too.
The fast is going well so far today. I LOVE how I feel drinking green juice. I feel so vibrant and energized. I wouldn't do more than 24 hours, but it definitely has helped in the past to go cold turkey off the junk food. And I feel like I'm doing something good for my body at the same time. I made the first one with romaine and my lunch one with spinach. Yum!
Hi. I am a widow now, but my husband was a hairstylist and we had a shop together for many years. I stopped doing hair because our cost for medical insurance got so high that I went to work for General Motors to get benefits.
The effect of the surgery wears off after a few years. I come to this board every day and also follow Weigh****chers when I have regain to get rid of.

Very cool! I love being able to work with my hubs. He's been doing hair for 26 years now, and is well loved in our community. Fortunately we have gov't healthcare in Canada. I lived in the states back in the early 2000's and it was shocking how much people there pay for healthcare.
I haven't done WW in a couple decades. What is the program like now?
It is a points program. You can eat any food as long as you count the points. They have three different color programs ranging from 17 to 30 points a day. A point is about 50 calories. I lose on 18 points a day which is about 900 calories.
There are a lot of foods that are zero points: chicken breast, eggs, fish, shellfish, beans, fruits, vegetables, salad, berries and 100's more. The points are added to these basics.
Many days I am still at zero points at dinnertime. I do the program online.
I like that I can choose any food, eat at any time, and just have to track my points.

Oh, that sounds right up my alley! I thought they got rid of the points system... I may need to revisit that at some point. I get so hung up on restrictions. It messes with my head big time.
I have lost all but about 2 pounds of an almost 20 pound regain via WW since mid December. I have done WW off and on several times over the years but I like the current version way better than the previous ones because of the zero points foods. If you use dense foods like fish or chicken with veggies and fruits, your previous VSG should work to help you fill up. I use my points on snacks or garnishes such as cheese.
And yes, this is a great thread for anyone post-WLS (I also had a VSG just over 4 years ago).

My VSG restriction is still just as tight as the day it was done at 2 years and 5 months post-op, so that could really work for me. How much can you eat in a sitting that far out? My sleeve was set at 6 oz and is still firmly in that neighbourhood unless it's liquidy like soup or sauce, and then I can eat a bit more, around 8 oz weighed food.
