4 months post op: Am I eating too little? How to maintain my metabolism going?
In the beginning you will lose weight ... put your energy into counting protein and water. Do not get hung up on calories right now.

I think everything you're doing is right on Point. 60Lbs in 4 months is kinda right where I was. As long as you are doing some exercise 4/5 hours a week that is pretty good. (Just think about how much more that is than what you were doing before). You are pretty much following the path I took. Do not worry about those calories. Just make sure you hit your protein goals and water goals. After the first couple months I averaged about a 10lbs weight loss each month for the next 9 months. It's after that grace period you will need to increase exercise cut calories and up your water intake to lose more weight. If I was your doctor i would say steady as she goes. Your doing great.

Thank you Teenie. A couple questions:
- May I ask what's your height? Since you mentioned our paths are similar I'd love to know
- Is it ok if most of those 4/5 hours are resistance training and not cardio?
- How did you cut calories after the grace period? had you already previously gone up from the 500-600 range?
I am 5'4" i started at a 51 BMI I always made sure may cardio came first. I always do at least a half hour cardio before I did any strength gets your heart pumping and gets you loosened up. I am now restricted to only cardio (doctors orders)
I track of my food on My Fitness Pal and watch my weight trends to determine what I need to lose. I eat about 1200 calories a day now. Your pouch is still healing it will loosen up and you'll be able to eat more. If you stick to 4 oz dense protein and veggies only 3x a day you can't go wrong. Its when you get inventive and try to add new recipes that may have too much fat to much cheese to many calories or mindless snacks like peanut butter, nuts and any slider foods. Nothing is off limits to what you can eat it is just what you choose to eat is the key to successful maintenance.

You are not going to stay at 500-600 calories the whole time you are losing. I would say sub 1000 calories. As someone said what you put in your mouth is more important right now than the exercise. Exercise is important but just move- Do whatever makes your body feel good. If you like it you will stick with it.

You are absolutely correct in that "comparison is the thief of joy" mentality. Stalls will happen, hopefully, this time provides you with how to focus on another aspect of your life that may be on the decline? Mental health, learning a new exercise regimen/discipline? I learned that as long as I stuck to the guidelines given to me by my surgeon, I was on the right path. There will never be "a right answer", unfortunately. You will strive to find a combination that works for you.
I also always thought I was never eating enough (so was the rest of the non-bariatric human world inhabitants... but my therapist helped me understand that it has become normal to fill the plate/bowl with more than one serving when in fact, the bariatric patient typically is only eating one serving.
Keep exercising, though it may not help with weight loss, it is a great stress reducer and can help build muscle (not saying you will become a bodybuilder... and no judgment if that is a goal of yours) but I like seeing a little definition in my arms or stomach, even under the flabby skin.
