What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Mornin' All!
well I have no motivation to do anything today. I've had this sore throat, congestion, and on & off headache for about two weeks now, and this morning I just feel wiped. These aren't the primary COVID-19 symptoms - they sound more like a cold - although they say different people have different symptoms, and some people have no symptoms at all. I've been taking my temperature twice a day - nope. It's perfect. Nevertheless, I'll probably stay in bed today.
I had no desire to eat breakfast, but I just now ate some anyway (well, around 10:30). Probably should have just had a protein shake.
accountability could have been better yesterday. I was at the high end of my maintenance range, when I'm supposed to be keeping to the low end since I want to lose eight more lbs. Ugh. We went for a long walk, but it probably wasn't enough to offset it (I did learn, though, that Nordic walking - which I've been doing lately - burns more calories than regular walking (Nordic walking is the kind with the walking sticks). Who knew?)
QOTD: I haven't thought of any lately, but I used to think they should put heating wires under all the streets and sidewalks to keep them clear in the winter. I suppose that's very possible - but prohibitively expensive!

I'm sorry that you're feeling under the weather. Please take good care of yourself and get well soon!
I know of someone in NY (Staten Island) whose steps, driveway and sidewalks are heated. They built their big house and I guess that money was no object.

Hope you feel better!
I want to college in Upstate NY and it snowed literally every day from September to May. It was miserable. Plus the college was literally built on a steep vertical mountain, so getting around was tricky. But the outdoor concrete stairs were all heated, so we would get never have an excuse not to get to class!
hi friends,
I have done a complete 180 on my fashion the last 3 days working from home...yes I know getting dressed makes me feel good but since I am basically sitting in my bed all day (where I have my wfh setup because it has a door and is next to the playroom so I can keep an ear out for my 5 year old) I really want to just wear comfy clothes.
At least I have showered daily and put on clean leggings and tee shirts LOL.
I guess if I need to do any video conferences I will make an effort but so far, not necessary.
I work in insurance verification/authorizations for a successful orthopedic practice with 19 physicians and it's normally insanely busy...it's been a nightmare the last few weeks with trying to figure out how to keep seeing patients who need care and surgery as well as trying to figure out how and when to reschedule others or which can be seen through telehealth appointments, etc.
As of right now, 90% of the appointments have either been canceled/rescheduled for after 5/1 or changed to telehealth so there is really not a whole heck of a lot to do right now besides log in and wait til something comes through. I am absolutely grateful for the fact that I still have a job because many do not, but I think it's also crappy that I have to sit here logged into this computer and waiting for the phone to ring for 8 hours a day just to "be available" in case someone happens to call.
I literally took 6 phone calls all day yesterday, 2 of which were not even for me and one was an automated call from google asking to update our business directory. *sigh*
all this time my 5 year old had to sit in the other room with the TV on to try to keep her entertained and out of trouble until I logged out at 4pm. I did take her on another really long walk after I logged out though, then she helped me make the mini pizzas and we read some books and played a board game before bedtime so i am trying to make up for it a little. it's just really HARD since she is an only child and has nobody else to engage with right now.
At least DH doesn't need to log in for work til noon so today I told him NO TV or video games for her this morning until he has to log in...we need to limit this as much as possible so she can get some actual human interaction.
They are outside in the front yard right now playing soccer with the dog lol.
QOTD: I can't think of anything right now but I am sure I have had plenty of weird invention ideas.
Morning: coffee- a whole pot.
B: 2/3 slice of low carb banana bread w/peanut butter (story stole the rest)
L: planning for a turkey and cheddar sandwich on low carb bread, string cheese and freeze dried strawberries (these are my newest snack obsession)
AS: cottage cheese & mixed fruit
D: Probably chipotle BBQ Chicken w/ roasted cauliflower
ES: celery, carrots and hummus
Stay healthy & safe all !

I'm not doing very well today. One of the guys I work with had a heart attack and after surgery he never woke up and had no brain activity so they took him off of life support last night. I just talked to him on Monday and he was inspecting one of my projects. He could always make me laugh and was a really great guy. I really miss him.
Since I wasn't focusing very well I decided to take advantage of the over 60 hours at Costco. But I just about had a meltdown. This is the most people that I have seen in a few weeks and some of them don't get social distancing. Fortunately my roommate waited in line and paid for it while I went to sit in the truck. But I did get toilet paper so it's one less thing to stress about.
I really just want to go back to sleep. So I'll try to focus on work and get something done.
Take care everyone, life is short and don't forget to tell the people in your life that you love them.

Good afternoon!
Late post for me, been busy! This morning I started working in the yard, re-potted my orchids, and just kept going. This helped me keep my fast going, and I hit almost 19 hours today!
QOTD - Believe it or not, I invented the chicken fried cheeseburger back in 1986. I deep fried a McDonald's cheeseburger in a thin, tempura type batter and it was amazing. I was only 12, so couldn't do anything but eat it. However, my little sister loves to tell me about how I should have done more to claim it as my own. (I'm sure someone else did it before me)
Breakfast - none, had lots of hot tea, and hot coffee
Lunch - Finally! A taco of BBQ tofu, with spanish rice.
Snack - fruit smoothie, frui****er, oat milk, chia seeds, hemp seed protein
Dinner - I am thinking something really light, just veggies and some fruit.
Have a great day!
Christina
