I wish I felt like I would come out of this healthier...I am nervous that without my intense gym classes, I am going to be a sloth despite walking and riding bikes :(

Guess I will just try to remain vigilant!

That's the part of the conversation I didn't relay - that for the gym going segment of the population it will be hard to maintain conditioning. We are in the minority, though.

My trainer is making me continue my program. I'm really doing it for both me and her. I don't want to be slug, but she only gets income from training. I'm kinda keeping her able to eat since about 60% of her clients bailed. While I have a gym at home, most of the things we are using are pretty basic - 3/5/10 pound hand weights, a chair. It was amazing what she had me do with the chair - I never would have thought about all the core work you can do. We are doing it via facetime and it feels really good to have her yell at me to straighten my feet..... Thankfully I got my Peloton, so it feels like a little bit of normal to take a class every morning vs. going to the gym.

Grocery store trip yesterday after a week of 3 hour register waits. There was no wait. What did I see - tons of fruits and veg (like normal), almost no bread, cookies, candy or ice cream. Need a say anything about paper products? My wife wanted some tootsie rolls and I got the last bag. I also found the very last package of steel cut oats. Made we wonder what journey they had been on, since they were not where they belonged (yes, I took a cleaning cloth to it). However, while greatly picked over - there was a lot left in the store (they have a terrible restock program). I figured I better get some canned goods, so found Turkey chili that had a good profile. 190 cals with 23 g protein per serving. The majority of canned goods were pretty picked over - including Spam (yuck). Hope everyone is doing well.

Just a personal opinion. This virus thing is not gonna go away soon. Portugal hasn't been affected but it's like a wave and it will get there, this just means later in the year. You would be safer in rescheduling it for next year than risking a trip in July.
But, I might be also wrong and this whole thing goes away when the weather is warmer. Just in hearing ppl from Italy everybody is so stressed and panicked that it doesn't seem it will go away anytime soon.

It certainly seems that way, Sheila. 100% refund goes for about a month and that is why we are waiting a month. But I can't see it being cleared up by then.

God I hope I come out of this healthier. If nothing else, it has got to lengthen my lifespan not to be commuting on the Southeast Expressway, right?

Hi Julia and all,

I've been lurking this week but insanely busy at work and just really rattled by all that is going on. I am so worried about the long-lasting economic impact. And all the people who will lose their jobs. And all the kids *****ly on food at school because they don't have enough at home. And so on and so on.

The kids think it's summer break, although we are making them do schoolwork and/or workbooks every day. I am getting them out for a bike ride each day, which helps. I met up with a gym friend for a socially distant walk at a park last night and there were SO many people. Everyone must be stir crazy. I did find out that the Peloton app is free for 90 days! You can sign up super easily and it doesn't require a credit card or anything! They have yoga, boot camp, strength training etc. You can follow friends. Maybe a bunch of us can do a challenge and do some of the classes and share which ones they like! Of course Amazon is out of small weights and I just heard Dick's is closing so I am going to have to get creative and use laundry detergent jugs or something...when I need weights.

QOTD: I don't know up from down right now, so I don't even know if I can answer this...

B: 2 hard-boiled eggs mashed with 1 cup 2% cottage cheese

L: Assuming I have time to run to grocery store (no delivery windows available for the next WEEK!), my Boars Head Ever Roast chicken and goat cheese

D: TBD, we have some thighs to cook up, so maybe that!

E: Another park walk, maybe a Peloton class?

Enjoy your day, stay safe, and stay SANE!!!

Em - in Chicago, they are distributing box lunches and breakfasts for the kids.

Here too, but it's something like "you can pick up bagged meals from 11-1" which just may not be feasible for every family :(

I think one positive to come out of this is mass awareness of just how many kids rely on SCHOOL to get meals. It's abhorrent.
