Good morning JB and Menu folks. Like the Boomtown Rats, I do not like Mondays! Had a wonderful weekend of shenanigans and poor choices. I am fine with it, Saturday night ended at a late night place famous for their wings and sicilian pizza, I had some of both at 2 am. Sunday was a quiet day in our house hold.
QOTD - Chipotle, they have a loyal following , meh! We have a locally owned Mexican restaurant that we just love. The best asada steak I have ever had. We order asada steak salads every other week....
B - Ketone shake
L - Garlic parm wings and cukes
AS - ketone shake
D - Chicken alfredo with homemade egg noodles, ( Egg, cream cheese and seasoning - game changing)
E - 3 mile run , upper body
Stay healthy my friends, Mike

I like Chipotle's food well enough, but I avoid them because of the whole "organic good, GMO bad" marketing ploy, which is completely unscientific.

Guys.
This time change and full moon are doing a number on me.
I feel so out of whack, overly anxious and jittery and I have a big week this week with meetings, staff on vacation, potentially a new hire and 2 of my employees are sporadically out on FMLA so I am STRESSED TO THE MAX.
I kind of wish I could just call in sick to my entire life right now but unfortunately I do not have a substitute to handle all my responsibilities so I am stuck and it really sucks. My stomach has been in knots for the last 3 days and I just don't see any clear end in sight. I am starting to really wonder what the F I was thinking taking this job. The money is nice but that is literally the ONLY good thing about it.
*sigh*
QOTD: I am 100% with those who said Starbucks. I hate their coffee...it's not even that good and it's WAYYY overpriced. so are all of their other foods/snacks/treats. crazy.
I am also with you on the avocado toast Julia...I used to like avocado but since my surgery it kinda makes me gag if it's not in guacamole form lol...the last time i tried to eat avocado toast I actually gagged and regurgitated for the first and really only time since my surgery.
Morning: lots of coffee w/sf vanilla creamer.
B: 1/2 C overnight oats w/unsweetened vanilla almond milk, L&F Vanilla greek yogurt, blueberries and cinnamon
L: leftover pork fried cauliflower "rice" and an apple
AS: L&F greek yogurt
D: parmesan garlic turkey italian sausage & broccoli w/carrots skillet.
ES: maybe some celery and hummus or PB

Ugh Amber, I am sorry you have so much going on. That sounds extremely stressful. Unfortunately, what I use to calm my team (and myself) doesn't actually work for you :( I work in Marketing so I always tell my team, "Guys, it's just Marketing. We don't have a heart on ice in a cooler for a transplant" (i.e. no matter how stressful it seems, it's not life and death). But I feel like you work in healthcare so maybe that is not true in your case! Hopefully you have some folks to lean on and you can get through this patch!
LOL its not exactly life and death scenarios here since I work for an Orthopedics practice but there are a lot of things that can be urgent especially for spine patients or pain management so it definitely gets stressful. I try to prioritize but I just have so many people coming at me from so many angles and I am still learning...not to mention that I can't cover for all the people who are out because I haven't gotten time to train myself to do everything in all the different positions within my department... also add that we are still short staffed, so I am filling in for that role until the new person starts--she should be starting later this week but I will also have to train her which will take 100% of my attention for at least 6 weeks...
I have a really terrible feeling I am going to end up working 60+ hours a week in the next couple months along with having to deal with finding coverage for the people that are out on FMLA who just so happen to be Each-other's only real backup person in the office.
It's literally probably a managers worst nightmare.
Welcome to my gentle intro to management.

ugh, sounds like it's been a tough adjustment in the new role. If it helps any, while I completely and 100% support FMLA and intermittent usage -- all for programs that help people take care of themselves....intermittent FMLA is the hardest to work through, because you usually can't replace someone but you have no way of prepping for the outage. It stinks for the employee and the leader and the team all around. Just know it's now just you that struggles with this one!

tell me about it.
The not knowing and waiting every morning for the text messages to come in from one or both of my FMLA employees saying they're not going to be in is like the most anxiety inducing thing.
I know my department needs backup coverage but I am getting so much kickback from other departments on doing cross training even though upper management has given the go-ahead.
I know I am super organized and I am the manager but this is really becoming impossible to manage.

Happy Monday! My ass is STILL super sore after a 50mi bike ride on Saturday... I'm trying to find a saddle that works with my anatomy, but it's a struggle. My century ride is on the 28th so I really need to find a solution ASAP. One more new (hella expensive!) saddle came in from Amazon yesterday, I'm going to try it on the trainer tonight, fingers crossed that it works out.
The weather today is lovely, sunny and 70ish with a little breeze, so I'm going rollerskating again on my lunch break. I ordered some new wheels for my trail/park skates as a reward for hitting my post-revision goal, those will be here Wednesday and I'm super psyched to try them out.
QOTD: Coffee. There, I said it! I grew up in the PNW, home of Starbucks and everything, and I just don't like the taste. Diet Coke all the way, baby!
Chow:
- B: protein bar
- L: picking up some roast chicken from the grocery store on the way back from skating
- D: eating out tonight as the meal-prep dinner hasn't thawed yet, probably Chili's or something, so I'm thinking taco bowl with no rice
- S: Greek yogurt, havarti cheese
- E: roller skating, maybe a swim tonight after Little Dude is in bed
