Did you work out/ exercise OR

Watch your calories OR

Combination of Both?

I do not exercise at all, but indulge in junk food so I know what needs to stop. Just wondering about your experience.

You can't out-exercise a bad diet.

Just diet. Exercise is good for muscles and overall well being. Light exercise, walking, yoga - makes me feel better.

Extensive exercise - every time I do that, I gained weight. I gained muscles but I also gained fat. Extensive exercise causes cortisone release, and always made me extremely hungry, and made me eat more.

It's all food. I am down 13 of the 30 I need to lose by cutting calories and making better food choices. I do walk at least 3 miles a night and stay active, but I do that for my heart health. I know it will not lead to weight loss.

Thanks for sharing. How long did this take you (the 13 lbs) and how many calories do you tend to stick to for losing regain?

I am 11 years out now. I consume around 2000 to maintain and cut back to 1500 to lose. I lose about a pound a week.

Right now I am doing WW. I haven't logged calories recently but I bet it is around 1500.

The psychologist who runs my clinic's support groups says that unless you are training at an olympic level, exercise is not going to make a real lasting dent in weight loss, but obviously it is important for other aspects of your health.

However, he says that studies have shown that successful WLS patients are intentional about exercise every day--not because it impacts actual weight loss, per say, but because it shows a mental dedication to being a healthy person, which trickles into every aspect of how they manages their lives and choices.

I have lost 15 pounds of an almost 20 pound regain. It was entirely due to diet change (returning back to basics of protein first and low carb). I have been going to Weigh****chers for 2.5 months to help me gain control.
