What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
on 2/17/20 2:40 am
Morning everyone! Who else has a 3 day weekend? I had a really nice Sat & Sun, but I am so happy to have today off, too! We are going to go to my parent's house and give them a hand with tech needs (me) and "tall guy stuff" (Grim). Its nice that they are close enough that we can be there in a little over an hour to do that kind of stuff for them.
Accountability: Not great. I had scoop of French Toast Casserole at the baby shower and then I ate 5 small peices of chocolate later in the day. I need to get back to 0 point foods today to keep up my momentum from this weekend's big loss.
QOTD: Let's do another "what are you reading?" round up! I just finished a fun quick read that I really recommend called "Nothing to see Here" by Kevin Wilson. It's about these kids who spontaneously combust, but personally I think it is just a metaphor for parenthood. It was very funny and I couldn't put it down. I also recently read Ronan Farrow's "Catch & Kill" about the Harvey Weinstein case and how the media tried to keep it covered up. It's a much more wild story than you could even have imagined. Really good read.
I am not ready to post a menu yet, because I am only sure about Breakfast... (Fit Frappe & Eggs). Lunch will be at Mom's house. Then we need to stop at the grocery store before we come home and I will figure out what to make for dinner after I have food in the house :)
It's going to be a beautiful day! I hope we can go for a nice long walk outside in the sunshine.

Morning all! I wish I had a three day weekend, but it's off to work for me today. At least the traffic shouldn't be bad since a lot of people are off and schools are out. The funeral was beautiful yesterday, but it was so very sad. They played a video with pictures of her from her younger years on up through the present day and after all of her radiation treatments. She was such a fighter. She will be missed by so many and especially her family.
QOTD: Sad to say I'm not reading a darn thing at the moment.
B: premier shake
B2: coffee w/Splenda
L: turkey and cheese roll up
D: salmon and veggies
Surgery: RNY on 1/23/19
Good Morning! We had a nice weekend, watched Knives Out (better than expected) and coffee with my sister and BIL in the mix of normal weekend stuff. No three day weekend here-boo hoo. Actually it's the start to a chaotic week with my local office moving suites (depending on how all that goes I may not have time to post tomorrow) and our risk review that is in process.
Accountability: A good weekend.

Good morning menu friends! Miss Lily and I have 2.2 miles done and will do a short lunch walk and another long walk later today. QOTD I am reading "An Hour before Daylight" a memoir by Jimmy Carter. Mornin'!
2-5" of snow predicted for today, dammit! I was all ready for a mild week weather-wise. Oh well - looks like I'll be coming home after my TRX class (which is at noon) and barricading myself in my house the rest of the day. I've got a few things to work on - plus a movie to watch for my film discussion group ("Whiplash"), so I'll do that this afternoon.
Accountability was bad yesterday. The Indian buffet at lunch pretty much blew it for the rest of the day. I did have a small dinner (pumpkin yogurt), but then made a bunch of air-popped popcorn last night to keep myself from eating worse things. Feeling it this morning (all those calories and all that fiber). Looking forward to getting some exercise this morning. And back at it today (as in - back on plan!). Thank God I have no eating events planned for this week - and I'm going to carefully scrutinize - or completely avoid - any invitations that come in. I usually do fine if I'm eating at home.
QOTD: I've been slacking off on reading lately, but I have a copy of "Supreme Ambition" (about Brett Kavanaugh) on my nightstand. I picked it up at the library the other day - it was recommended by a friend. I tend to go for non-fiction.
4 years 8 months out:
B: two chaffles with plain Greek yogurt and homemade blueberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: Fit Frappe
L: 2 Costco chicken skewers, salad with light dressing
AS: not sure - probably L&F yogurt and/or raw veggies with ranch Greek yogurt dip
D: 2 Costco chicken skewers, leftover Mexican black beans, (topped with) plain yogurt & salsa
ex: some kind of cardio, TRX
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning! I hope everyone who has the day off from work enjoys it! I am going kayaking with friends this morning then out to lunch. It will be a nice change from pool or beach.
Don't laugh but I'm now one of those dog "parents" who has a dog stroller. I bought a small one that folds up like an umbrella stroller to use when we are out in the car for a walk further away and need to stop and pick up something at a store. It will allow me to take Justice inside and not have to leave him in the hot car. I used to say I would NEVER have a dog stroller. LOL!
QOTD: I just started a new book so can't comment on it, but the prior book was When I Was You by Minka Kent. It was a really mind-bending psychological thriller. Very different.
TSS: 3 years, 10.5 months
B: Eggs, salsa, and coffee
L: Probably fish of some sort (out to lunch)
D: Chicken and mango salsa
S: strawberry compote with Greek yogurt, blueberry lemon pie (WW recipe with 0 points)

Good morning, everybody!
The fam is home today, but I have to go into work. Hopefully, the traffic will be extra light.
It's kind of a long and boring drive to the Dexa facility, so when I was driving by O'Hare I was reading all of the billboards. Frankly, most of them are for hair restoration. But one was advertising for a Keto friendly Gentlemen's Club. I never knew.
Not to throw a lot of fancy business jargon out on a Monday morning, but is their really an addressable market there? I mean do you think a lot of guys are saying "I had a bunch of twenties in my pocket and I was ready for some dancing, but when I researched the Spearmint Rhino section of My Fitness Pal, the macro's were unconscionable."
Maybe I'm just a wimp, but I guess when I think of reasons that I wouldn't eat the food at a Gentleman's club the first thoughts that come to mind are things like "food born pathogens", "contracting botulism" or "how could they cook in only purple neon light?" "Staying in Ketosis" is actually pretty far down the list.
The other thing that confounds me about the Keto friendly establishment is that it would imply that people actually planned ahead to eat there. I always figured that stripper food was just a spur of the moment bad choice, later to be regretted, not something that one planned into. Kind of like the credit card advance machine.
And really isn't part of the reason people do Keto so that they don't have to base their love lives on ATM machines?
QOTD: Persian Fire. It's about the First and Second Persian invasions of Greece. Marathon, Thermopylae and Salamis.
Breakfast: Steak and cottage cheese
Snack: Protein bar
Lunch: Chicken
Snack: yogurt
Dinner: TBD
Have a great, day all!
