We did an amazing tour with overseas adventure tours; Casablanca, Rabat, fez, a Saharan tent camp, a mountain mining city, ourzatzate (the Hollywood of Morocco!) and then wrapped up in marrakesh. We rode camels, ate camel, Visited the tanneries (yuck), fondled the resulting leather; sunrise walk in the dunes, visited the ruins at Volubilis , and where them shot Gladiator, a couple of schools and learned how they are working to get more girls in school; visited a hammam with local ladies, got traditional henna tattoos, and ate amazing tagines. The people were lovely and it was quite an amazing experience.

It tastes like any gamy lean meat. Lots of people thought it was a beef regime but I assumed that since it was dinner at the temp camp, it was camel and I was right. They were really good about special diets though!

I'm pretty adventurous with food and will eat almost anything, but oddly, not when it comes to meats. I'm fine with the standard, American ones (beef, pork, poultry, fish) - but I draw the line at "weird" ones. I was really afraid they were going to make me eat caterpillars in South Africa (and they tried and tried to get me to eat them), but they finally gave up. Whew!
anyway, gamy is definitely not my thing. I won't do goat or mutton for that reason. In fact, I usually avoid lamb as well. I know young lamb is not gamy, but I've gotten enough gamy lamb (probably older...) that I avoid it now. Not good when you're going to Morocco as a lot of northern Africa and the Middle East is lamb-centric, but I know they do chicken, too. That works.. Or I could just eat everything but the meat if whatever meat they're serving at any particular meal is an "issue"..

We didn't have much lamb there (and I do like lamb) much more beef and chicken, I think there was fish as well but I don't eat that.
