This is a pretty witty group. In my 2 years here, I've gotten some great advice...and often in pithy, quotable form!

I'm sure there are enough out there that we could make one of those listicles...or the cool new word list t-shirts!

What have you heard/read here that has resonated with you and when/how do you use it?

Two that I use a lot are from Grim:

Hunger is not an emergency!! - I use this when I'm in the process of packing 17 snacks for a 5 hour flight "just in case I get hungry"

and

Would you eat a chicken breast? - I use this a lot when I'm fighting head hunger, which is a lot of days

Not witty/cool or not good/bad....just words spoken at me that stand out:

  1. WLS will give you more years you would have never seen otherwise
  2. WLS is like taking a giant leap of faith (encouraging tone)
  3. Find something you love to do and it won't feel like exercise (fun tone)
  4. You can't pick your own transfer addiction, silly (get real tone)
  5. A surprise outcome of WLS is having my family get healthier, too
  6. Thank You for helping people like me (sincere tone)
  7. Prepare for WLS or prepare your funeral--your choice (done tone)
  8. I miss the "old you" because I miss what had become normal (honest tone)
  9. You are going to get really old-looking after WLS (truth hurts tone)
  10. It's really fun when the weight comes back (sarcastic tone)

Most of us go through phases where weight gain, or loss, seems to be mysterious. When that happens, I refer to this:

Surgery fixes your stomach, not your head.

The number of times I have to say this in other WLS support groups is BONKERS.

I like this one too! It's close to the one about doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results!!
