Seeking advice on VSG to RNY
Hi Starfishmom, I think this planned revision of your VSG to an RNY may just be the intervention you need to kickstart you towards success in meeting your weight loss goals.
I seem to recall hearing once that the sleeve was intended to be part 1 of a 2 step surgical process. At a certain point in time following the VSG, the sleeve is then revised to a somewhat modified RNY. I don't know where I heard this, nor if this is in fact true.
Count me in as someone who, like you, has also just returned after a long absence (I had my RNY in 2010). I would very much like to hear how your journey progresses. Best of luck to you with the approvals process--I hope you hear good news soon!
Thank you everyone. I received my approval phone call today from patient advocate, went to my doctor just yesterday and now waiting on call from scheduler in next 24 hrs.

Yassssssss! March 10 Coming Up !!
Thank s for the Update! I know this is such an exciting time for you..Are you ready?
I'm ready, but I have mixed emotions. Seems like everything is happening so fast, but I'm very confident in my surgeon. She's the same one that did my sleeve, gall bladder, and now RNY. So that's it, I hope 3rd time is the charm :)
awee starfishmom,
you will be fine..we all deserve another chance..the faster the better so you can get on your way to a new you..
at least you (we) are not starting from scratch we been through this before we have been there before and we know what needs to be done..!
does your doctor require pre op diet?
my doctor never requested one from me for all three surgeries..the only thing he requested was the day before very light food ex: salad , soups alot of fluids tea coffee shakes ect...
I have to say i feel great still learning the size of my little pouch and learning what it likes when and how much...lol..i have to follow its rules.. for example for lunch i ordered salmon at this restaurant i love to go to they make a nice size and i requested it like i do every friday (soft cooked) it was delicious as usual but today i did the same as i do all the time and that is eat half and save the other half for dinner...Wellllll today i had it it was soft and delicious but it didnt stay down...i had to throw it up.. not sure why so i threw it up and then waited for 1/2 hour anyway and had a bottle of water and some hot tea. when i got home with the other half i warmed it up in microwave and ate it again the same way slowly probably slower because im trying to figure out what i did wrong...well what do you know it stayed down no problems waited 40 minutes had my water and now making some hot tea before bed..
so all that to say al you have to do is get the procedure done and start your new journey one day at a time..
You Got This Starfishmom!
