Breakfast Ideas?

Hi all - sorry for the radio silence, life has been ridiculous. I moved in a flurry of activity at the end of July after our house sold in 4 days with less than a month requested before settlement, then I graduated (yay!!) in December, and last weekend I both accepted a job offer and had an offer accepted on a home in a 72-hour period. I start work on Monday and we settle on the house at the end of March assuming the time of contingencies and inspections continues to go well.

And now, for the first time since VSG, I need to do something about my eating schedule. I need to leave for work at 7am and I do not want to wake up a moment earlier than I need to. Since VSG I've been pretty consistent about having a shake for breakfast but, TMI sorry not sorry, then I have to poop 30-60 minutes after drinking the shake. That's not going to work on days that I'm working, so I think I'll need to say goodbye to my beloved shakes on my work days.

I have a few options with timing - I can eat something super quick at home in the morning or I can eat something portable in the car on the way to work. I might be able to eat something at work, but I don't want to rely on that being a possibility. I'm also pretty sure that I'll be eating lunch at noon regardless, so having breakfast earlier would be better. New routine is hard for me.

Since I'd rather not have a Quest bar in the car every morning.. I'd love some suggestions for breakfasts that I can eat quickly, or eat while driving. Cold things are probably easier. I'm happy for recommendations that could be prepped and packaged in bulk on the weekend. I don't need typical breakfast food. Just something that will get me a good dose of protein early in the morning. I'm thinking that I'll do hardboiled eggs for lunches, so I will maybe avoid eggs for breakfasts.

Any ideas for me?

Hi Gwen!

I am a big fan of eating cold meat from the night before. I put it in a container after dinner and grab it in the morning. I also love the zero sugar beef jerky.

Good luck and congrats on the new job!

I was wondering if you were still participating in OH. I too was absent from the main forums for a long time while dealing with DH's illness. I'm back and about halfway through trying to lose an approximately 20 pound regain.

Congratulations on all your changes. It sounds like life is going well (though crazy) for you.

When I was working, I would put eggbeaters and cottage cheese in a Pyrex cup (or other microwaveable container) and bring it to work to microwave in the morning (usually about 2+ minutes depending on the amount). I know that isn't exactly what you were looking for but thought I'd share my former routine. BTW, you may still have the same bodily reaction after breakfast - it may not be the shake that causes it, but the fact that it is the first meal of the day.

I am on chaffle kick. I mix one egg with 1/4 cup cheddar cheese and make 2 using a mini waffle maker. I have not tried making them before-hand, but I would think they could be heated up the next day.

I have a Dash Mini-Waffle maker. I may splurge someday and get a multi-waffle maker like THIS. For now my $10 one works well enough.

Thanks! I could probably pop them in the toaster oven if I made them ahead of time.

I like that idea! That would keep them crispy. I will have to try that. Thanks!

So this is exactly what I've ended up doing. I got this waffle iron - Hamilton Beach Waffle Iron - and it's great. I make up a bunch on the weekend and then just pop one in the toaster oven each morning. It seems like just the right amount of food to tide me over until lunch!

Thank you so much for the suggestion.
