What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?

My mother in love has started opening up more about family stories and I realize how much of what you shared about the "good old days" were true. Things just were not discussed but plenty happened =( I do envy that sense of innocence. She still has that despite everything she has lived through. It was a different time, for sure. There is so much about how things are today that she just doesn't grasp, (and honestly, that is probably for the best).
I still have that innocent feeling about life and that everything will work out in the end. I have a firm belief that I will never be wealthy, but will always have enough to take care of my needs. I believe that most people are honest and want to be good people.
Several times I have dropped my wallet or checkbook in a parking lot, gotten home, called the store, and it was turned in with the money and credit cards intact. But after it happened twice I only carry purses with zippered openings and make sure that they are zipped shut, There is a difference between luck and stupid.
The world we live in now seems more dangerous, but we also have things that we did not have then. Cellphones are one of the greatest parts of this world. I also am happy about how much better animals are treated than back in the 1950's when people did not let them in the house and let cats and dogs run loose until they were killed by car accidents.
I love all of the computers, electronic helpers, and things like the camera on my car that beeps if someone is following too close, or I am backing up and close to an object, Because of electronic devices I feel safer than I did years ago.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Mornin' All!
I'm headed out to visit my ward in awhile (this would be the woman for whom I'm legal guardian - I'm supposed to visit her at least once a month, but I'm going every other Thursday morning, when the hospice nurse is there, too - helps me keep up with her health-wise as well). I may go to a yoga class afterward as I haven't been to one since Sunday. And to the weight room to do the lower-body machines. I did upper body last night but didn't want to do lower since my quads still ached from my workout a couple days ago. Much better this morning. Nothing planned after that, although I have several things I need to do (as usual...).
accountability was great yesterday - ate within range and did an hour of Zumba plus the upper body workout (btw - I decided to go to a "Zumbathon" in February - it's a fundraiser for a high school LBTGQ organization. A Saturday afternoon of Zumba-ing - sounds really fun!)
QOTD: I did a lot of those things people have mentioned - staying out all day unsupervised, not wearing seat beats and bike helmets (did anyone back in those days?), letting myself burn to a crisp in the sun - in fact, doing things to promote even MORE burning, like Liz did!). In high school, a group of us used to tell our parents that we were spending the night at so-and-so's house, but we really weren't - we were staying out all night. That was great fun up until 3 or 4 in the morning, when we were exhausted but couldn't go to anyone's house to sleep. I remember a couple of us sleeping in my parents' car in our detached garage once. I'm surprised we never got caught...
4 years 7 months out:
B: protein pancakes with plain Greek yogurt and homemade blueberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: salad with diced turkey and light dressing
AS: pumpkin pudding or crustless protein pumpkin pie, raw veggies with ranch Greek yogurt or hummus
D: whipped cottage cheese with raspberries
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning, everybody!
Well, I'm definitely sick now. Yesterday I was freezing cold and achy so I went home from work. Now I am congested, coughing a little, alternating between cold and hot and somewhat less achy. I have to go to Washington DC on Sunday, so my goal is to recover by then. My son started to get sick on Monday and was on the borderline of going to school today, so I think its do-able.
Lots of TV on the couch is planned.
QOTD: Pretty much anything that was inspired by Evil Knevil.
Not sure how much I am going to eat today, we will see. Right now, I'm focused on fluids.

Chrissy recommended this to me when I could sleep because of coughing and now I'm a believer!!! Also, put Vick's on your feet stand warm socks. I did both and it really helped!

Yikes. Man, kids are walking petri dishes no matter how old they get, I swear. Feel better soon! A few of my teens seem have been feeling puny but nothing full fledged ... I had to take some medicine over to my partner's house. They caught something that has been going around work that someone brought in...from one of their kids. I spent quite a bit of time over there last week and I am hoping that we stay healthy. I am taking vitamins and drinking my water but I have this feeling that eventually we will get it. One of my teens has confided that many people at work are sick and several managers weren't able to show up last week and they nearly had to shut the store down. I have been ON THEM to wash their hands and all that but so much is airborne and they work with food, SO.... I picked up extra medicine when I went to the store, just to have on hand. Good plan on your part to stay hydrated on REST!

Eck! So sorry you had to deal with that JB, that's awful.
woke up to 3 security alerts for my bank account. Soooo I have to deal with that this morning. They were not successful but dang it it's annoying.
I go see the pain management doctor today. Hoping to get an appointment with the surgeon. I'd like to see what he has to say about the MRI and what not.
my food for the day...I have no idea yet. We may fix the brisket we bought yesterday or that may be this weekend? Not sure. I do know a PP shake for breakfast. That's all I have planned.
qotd: soooooooooo much. My brother and me were heathens(still are LOL) and ran wild. My mom was a single mom with little help. I once opened otter pops for us and our friends with a steak knife. I cut my finger almost in two length wise. It didn't hurt but ended up with a blood infection and a hospital stay. I once may of rammed my fist through a patio window...did I mention I had anger issues growing up? I look back now and realize I'm lucky to be alive as is my brother. Oh we also played with fire a lot. Finger nail polish remover makes a lovely fire.
