What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
That is just a difference in surgeons. Mine will not accept anything other than 20 pounds under goal by the end of 18 months. His patients are very successful because of that. You can lose all of that weight and some for good measure. Just prove them wrong.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
You have had some great comments so far, but I also want to chime in. You can decide how far you lose to - based on what you eat. Don't let your surgeon tell you how far you can go! I think many people do not reach goal, many people do not come here for support, many people do not address the underlying issues for food=comfort...but you can be your own person and if you want to lose 50 more lbs, keep at it! Please don't think you are done.
I did find that it was harder the further out I got, but again, not impossible. The regain is seeming impossible but the loss the first time around was easier! One member here (Gina in Texas) got to her goal at NINE years post-op. Yep, nine. She says she screwed around for the first 8 years and then got serious, used her tool, and made her goal. Now she is a tiny, healthy, happy at goal person! There is so much inspiration here!
Thank you all for the awesome comments! You guys are great!! I definitely intend to prove them wrong!

I don't really understand how they think they can scientifically identify how much weight you'll lose. I literally could have disappeared. I stopped because I hit the low threshold of my BMI - and then I put some back on because everything hurt at that weight. As in, it hurt to sit or to roll over in bed and sex was so painful! But, the point being I didn't just "stop" losing at some point and settle out. I ate at a deficit and I lost weight, the end.

What a terrible thing to say! I mean, it's helpful to warn patients that after a certain time your body and metabolism will be changing, but there is no reason to make you feel like it's all ending... Keep going and show them how it's done :)

I admire your athleticism. Wish I had more time in the day to spend at the gym. Maybe after my vacation I will change my gym workout to morning to get a longer workout. And when the weather breaks I may start running in my neighborhood. We will see.

Yes me too! I decided that starting next week I am going to completely change up my routine (now that I won't need to come in super early for these meetings) and I'll make a morning gym schedule that I can stick to. After work just isn't going to happen with this commute.
