What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

What WW plan are you going to follow? I am on purple. I blew through my daily and weekly points early in the week due to developing a habit of having a couple drinks to increase my appetite and now I am struggling; HOWEVER, I still lost 6.8 lbs my first week on WW. I am focusing on increasing my water, tracking and planning protein forward meals (the purple plan was as close to bariatric friendly as I could see), and hopefully I will figure out a way to consume less alcohol or eliminate it entirely. (My bariatric and other Drs know and don't have a problem with it but I definitely do)

I am on the Blue Plan. I can't say I really wrapped my head around the difference between the color plans...? I have 23 points a day to spend on Blue and there are 200 zero point foods to choose from.

It will take a lot to wrap my head around the zero point food idea. I am so used to counting carbs like it's my job, so a lot of the "free" foods on WW are foods that I have trained myself to thin of as "bad". But I know there are lots of ways to be successful and I am excited to try something new.

I think as post op RNY many who do WW will steer towards protein forward/lower sugar or carb. Calories still matter and dense protein will still satisfy longer than slider foods like oatmeal, (which is a 0 point food on purple but if I ate it freely I would get sick and not lose as much weight if I was eating "free" oatmeal all day long, iykwim) I think learning moderation and what makes us feel best is key. I remember how crazy many people went when bananas were suddenly 0 points on one of the previous plans. People were coming in and not losing weight or even gaining because they were consuming ungodly amounts of "free" bananas lol. It was insane. I think most of us here realize that this is for life and so trying something new while also remembering all the things we have learned leading up to WLS and after will help guide us forward. I am still learning but it is refreshing to change things up a bit while doing what I know I need to do. I will be watching the daily menu threads with renewed interest for ideas on bariatric WW meals. Good luck!

I think there are always some people who'll try to get around the theory behind an eating plan and eat whatever they want to eat...and are able to justify it (at least to themselves...). I remember a group of friends talking about the points in donuts in WW meetings years ago. "There are just as many points in a donut as there are in X-Y-Z", they'd say "so I'm just going to have a donut". Well, true - but... So anyway, your comment about people going hog wild over bananas back when they counted as zero points doesn't surprise me at all. You don't have to eat too many bananas to totally sabotage your efforts!

Good morning menu friends! Nice thick fog here in the cornfields of Illinois this am but Miss Lily and I have our first long walk in and will do another long walk and a short lunch walk too. I am walking wounded. I was prying open a stuck door to the basement to do laundry yesterday and when it finally popped open it flung me backwards and I hit really hard on my left butt cheek. It's really painful, bruised and swollen but at least it wasn't my hip. Tylenol will be my friend today and probably an ice pack this evening. QOTD never have I ever flown anywhere. We never traveled when I was younger--in fact I was 56 before I saw the ocean. So I'm loving our retirement travels for sure. Accountability was perfect food wise but I missed our second long walk as I was way too sore. Weight today is 120.2. Here's the food plan for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and homemade cashew butter L 2 protein pancakes with sugar free syrup D smpiece of breakfast pizza. Have a great day full of healthy choices everyone!
