Hello! New member, longtime reader of the message boards here. One of my many goals for 2020 is to reach out for more support. (And to hopefully be more supportive of others!) I haven't been too good about that in the past. I attended my doctors support groups for awhile but I am a full-time caretaker and now find it hard to make the time to attend the meetings. So here I am! What has best helped support you throughout your weight loss surgery journey?

This is a lifetime journey and it really helped me to have the support of people on this site. When I had a question that stumped me and my surgeon, I would get an answer from the wonderful experienced people here.

When you have a question, make sure you post it. The vets on this site are way more experienced then the people in your support group, because most people in the support groups are fairly new.

We are all here to give and get support.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

All those here on OH and I post regularly on the menu thread. Best of luck and hang around!

I just joined yesterday to set a goal for myself to stay interactive and motivated. It's wonderful to see others making the same goals. Some of the other websites seem to get too much white noise so It's nice to come here and not have to deal with a lot of clutter!

I just attended the last 2 months os a local support group and the ringing theme was KEEP ATTENDING! so, whether online or in-person... I really want to KEEP ATTENDING!

Best wishes on your journey!

I'm 2 years out and still attend a physical support and post in the menu thread. You should also log and count intake with a tracking device like My Fitness pal. You can see where you need to cut calories or add protein. I use the free version and never had any need to buy it. Good Luck.

Thanks for the information Teenie. I didn't know that there was a free version! I will download it and give it a try.
