**Actual photo of me in the office yesterday! My wonderful boss returned from two weeks of overseas travel with treats for all of us. I remained strong! Not even a nibble :)

As I mentioned yesterday, I have today off for an appointment....which they called yesterday to cancel! (Dr has a family emergency), but I am still taking the day off. I know this is dumb, because I will have to take it as a vacation day, but I actually want to work from home in peace. I have a really complicated project to tackle and it will go better without distraction. But I hope to tackle some home projects and will spend some quality time at the gym when it is empty later, too.

Accountability: Really good! I did switch up my dinner plan, because my train was really late getting in, and I was not up for cooking, so I found a quick Real Good Foods Enchilada to microwave. I ended the day on plan with calories, and 19 carbs. Again, the late train threw off the exercise plan, too, but I did a lot of walking yesterday, and had 12,000 steps.

QOTD: What is your go-to lazy couch outfit? I like a giant oversized T-shirt (like a Size XL) and Flannel PJ Bottoms. Also, I finally got a Snuggie (sleeved blanket) for Christmas, and now I never want to leave the house again. I can't believe it took so long for me to own one of these! Mine is super long and black. It reminded us both of the scene in Princess Bride when Fezzik wears a Holocaust Cloak to storm the castle! Haha.

Exercise: long run day at the gym.

Morning! I'm working from home today and have a PT appointment scheduled for 9am. So, this should hopefully for a casual morning since Jon takes Kid #2 to school on Tuesday's. Also, I managed to pack at least one of the kid's lunches with left over pot roast and potatoes, so I'm ahead of the game!

QOTD: I purchased some size L men's PJ pants for my plastics recovery and they have become my favorite comfy clothes. I pair them with a Men's zip up hoodie I have or I have a giant 2XL fluffy robe that my sister bought me back when I required a 2XL and I refuse to give it up. I can literally wrap the thing around myself twice. In the summer I have some Men's 2-3XL t-shirts that I use instead of the hoodie/robe.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x2
  • Eggs, Cheese, Avocado, English Muffin
  • Turkey, Salami, & Cheese Roll Ups, Broccoli/Cauliflower
  • Pork Chops & Brussel Sprouts

I'm hoping PT can tell me what the heck is wrong with my hip and get me moving towards recovery so I can run again. We have some super warm (70+ degree) days coming up and I don't want to waste them!

Happy New Year!

When Sean Astin read for the part of Sam Weise Gangee, he saw all of the fight scenes and swordplay in the script and went on a training regimen to get into the best shape of his life . Prior to beginning the filming of Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson picked Sean up at the Wellington airport, took one look at him and said "NOOOO, I need a fat Hobbitt, I am going to have to re-cast your part." Sean said "we have six weeks until filming, let me see what I can do." So he went on an intensive six week fried chicken and donut diet and gained 15 Kilograms (32 pounds).

The first scene with the Ring Wraiths is called "Get off the Road" and was filmed in a park outside of Wellington. It takes place on a hill and Peter made them re-take it 30 times. You will notice that Sam is barely in the scene and the reason why is because with his newly acquired 30 pounds of pastry he simply could not keep up with the others. I've been that Hobbit.

We disembarked at noontime Chicago on Saturday morning. We went on an excursion to the Blue Mountains outside Sydney and were dropped at the airport for a seven hour wait. Fifteen hours from Sydney to Abu Dhabi. Four hour layover. Fifteen hours from Abu Dhabi to Chicago. I got home yesterday at about 5:30 PM, went to weightlifting, did a little work and crashed. This morning, I feel pretty good, but we will see how long that lasts.

Our house is still filled with Christmas presents and half packed suitcases. Marilyn will have her work cut out trying to get the boys out of bed and off to school this morning.

As luck would have it, today is a Bobblehead night. I will have to power through and at least go to the game for my Bobble.

Bobbleheads aside, the word for today at work is reactive. As in, if anybody comes into my office with a question I will answer it. But, as far as any attempt to proactively get things done, that is going to have to wait until tomorrow.

It's good to be back. Although I didn't post, I did read while I was away. I was sorry to see some people being kind of hard on themselves at year end. You are all more beautiful than you give yourselves credit for.

Madison Rose - congratulations on Onderland!

Liz - If you are reading, I am sorry to hear about your husband.

Chris1976 - glad to hear that you are doing well.

Trish - I am happy to hear that your water retention isn't anything serious

Accountability - Our bar bill for the cruise exceeded January's mortgage. I will step on the scale Sunday morning.

I did 105 pull-ups Saturday with my wedding band on and now my hand is all cut up and I can't wear it. In the off chance that we meet in the next couple of days, please know that I am not one of those guys.

QOTD: Cookie monster fleece pajama bottoms and a long sleeve T-shirt.

Menu is a bit up in the air because we have to go grocery shopping. Suffice to say that it will not involve pizza, wine or dessert.

A year ago I was 30 pounds over weight and struggling to walk more than a short distance. I was also low on iron and vitamin D. I have lost half of that 30 pounds and see a difference in my endurance. Still not great but I have hope that losing this last 15 will give me back my ability to walk 5 miles without stopping.

Thanks for that great story about Sean Astin. I can totally relate.
