Hi Scott,

Im glad your doing well why did you not tell your doctor your struggling with alcohol?

He can refer you to someone? I've heard in the pass that RNY and addiction to alcohol is common, Im set up for revision to RNY at the end of the month and that has been my concern..

Is your struggle result of RNY procedure.

Congratulations on your weightloss..

Good Morning.... I am Debbie and I live right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina... I am 44 years old and have 2 daughters and a son (all adults) and 3 precious grandbabies... I live alone...

I had RNY in April of 2011 so I am coming up on 9 years post op... WOW!! I also had a BA in 2013 and a TT w/MR in 2016... I lost 140lbs within a year of my bypass... I was able to maintain my goal weight (134-137) for the first 6 years quite easily... In 2017 my husband and I separated and well I suddenly felt hunger which I had not since surgery... probably a mental hunger but I fed it... I also began drinking more wine and beer and started drinking liquor... which would also guaranteed I would black out... over the past 2 years I was okay with that because well it numbed all the pain... with that being said I've gained almost 40lbs back... I never thought I would allow myself to have that much regain but here I sit with it and I feel absolutely miserable and unhealthy... and none of my clothes fit and I'll be dang if I will buy a whole new wardrobe... I lurk here daily but I should probably start participating in the menu group as I work on my regain goals... OH was truly a major tool for me in the beginning of my journey... So I have started meal prepping again and back to the gym which I love but had quit it too... back to taking my vitamins... and yes putting the bottle down... I no longer have any alcohol in my house or any bad carbs! Yay!

Welcome back! Good for you for getting rid of all the unwanted crap! One of the pluses of being a singleton is that you have pretty good control over what you bring into the house, on the flip side, I always know when I have something I shouldn't and how much and where it is, lol.

I missed this post til now so I'll hop in late. I'm another oldie as I had my surgery August 29,2012. I weighed 278 at my highest and now weigh 120. I had diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides and uncontrolled high blood pressure prior to surgery. Having my doctor put me on insulin was the push I needed to urge me to have surgery. I've had no complications and lost down to 118 in 9 months. The diabetes, and cholesterol issues are gone and my blood pressure is good on one low dose pill. It's hard to believe that the woman who struggled to do housework or walk down her basement steps to do laundry now walks 5 plus miles a day with the dog for fun and travels around the country painting, building and cleaning at church camps. I've kept my weight off with the exception of mid 2018 when I gained 30 pounds. At that point I wasn't posting here or being accountable to anyone and was letting others dictate my eating. All that weight has come off and I'm back to posting daily again. The accountability and encouragement here has made a huge impact on my success. So thank you all!

Yes I've spent lots of time cleaning and decluttering and pitched things I haven't used recently. Also took Lily to the vet for her yearly checkup and shots since after March 6th we'll be gone most of the year.

morning all. Great idea for a post. I'm Stacy. I love in the Los Angeles suburbs and I'm an attorney. I had VSG in May 2014, but developed severe GERD and had to convert to RNY. That happened in July 2016. as a result of the RNY, I developed severe hypoglycemia. We're currently working on a solution to that problem. I've gained about 15 pounds, mostly due to the hypoglycemia and the extra calories I consume to bring my sugar back into range. I don't like to talk about it much, since I don't ever want to discourage anyone from having surgery. Even with all my complications (I also have a hernia and had my gallbladder removed 8 months after my first surgery) it's the best thing I've ever done. Since my surgery I've run 6 1/2 marathons and countless 10ks. I also spin 5-6 times a week and do circuit weight training classes. I like to stay active. I try to post as much as I can on the menu threads, work permitting. I'm sometimes not at my computer until late morning because of court/meetings and the thread is really quiet at that time. I track my food on My Fitness Pal so at least I keep on track that way. This site has been a huge support and I've met so many people that I truly consider friends.

Thanks for starting this Jen. It's nice to meet new people through threads like this.

I had RNY in August 2012, so it will be 8 years this summer. I'm so glad I did this. My high weight was getting close to 500, with a BMI of almost 60. I can do things now I wouldnt even think of doing before.

I met my girlfriend Juniper Berry on OH, and we live just south of Boston with our two cats. Ain't she the cutest thing?

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.

Aww, so cute!! Grim, you are one of the positive voices in my head - I have so many mantras from you -- Hunger is not an emergency! Would you eat a chicken breast?! I use them in my head hunger battles regularly!
