Hi!

I'm Trish and I live in southern Wisconsin. I had RNY in June of 2015 and have been on OH since sometime before that - although I was just a lurker for the first year or so. Now I post on the menu thread almost every day because it keeps my head in the game, helps me stay on track with my eating, and because I enjoy the comraderie. I've met two other menu thread participants IRL and hope I can meet others one of these days!

I also lost all of my excess weight but have put on 15-20 lbs since hitting bottom a couple of years ago (probably more like 15 - the extra five is mostly holiday weight from the last couple of months). I'm actually within my acceptable range (although at the extreme high end) but would like to lose 10 lbs. So I'm trying to stay within my maintenance calorie range (I went over it way too many times this holiday season), eat more healthy fats to help with satiety, and get back to regular exercise. Hoping this works....otherwise it'll be WW or Keto for me!

I'm a retired librarian and love cats and traveling. I also play Mah Jong every week and am pretty active in three or four different organizations - including serving on the board for one and on a programming committee for another. I'm also a news junkie, a public radio fanatic, and serve as a legal guardian to a elderly woman with dementia. SO....I'm managing to keep pretty busy in retirement!

You are one of the busiest retirees that I "know" -- great inspiration for when I retire down the road!

Good morning everyone! I love this idea and thread!

Here's mine.

I had my RNY in March of 2009, and was on this site pretty much right around that time. I took a long break (life happens) and am happy to be back, and participating on the daily thread.

I am married, and enjoying life a day at a time. I work for a local government entity here in San Antonio Texas, and I love it. I work with amazing people, and work for an organization that cares about sustainability as much as I do.

My husband and I dress up as Star Wars characters and belong to the 501st legion which gives us an opportunity to do lots of charity events.

I am a dog mom, with four dogs, all rescues. I love all animals, and eventually hope to add capybaras, chickens and a goat to my "little farm" once I retire.

I am on a completely plant based diet, which works well for me and makes me feel my best. Yoga is my form of exercise as well as meditation, and I find it super important to be kind, to myself and to others.

Anything else, feel free to ask or reach out!

I saw a TV show where a lady had a capybara as her house pet. He was like a giant guinea pig napping on the couch and had its own bed and run of the house. Are you planning them as indoor or outdoor pets or to raise them for their meat and fur?

LOL! I'm a vegan, so definitely not raising them for meat or fur. They will be pets. We are on almost an acre, so my husband will build a structure for them, and I plan on having a natural pond they will have access to.

They get along well with humans, turtles, birds (chickens, ducks) and dogs, so I can't wait!

My sister has a farm, but her husband runs a restaurant and many of the animals end up on the menu. Their rule is that if she gives an animal a name then it will be a pet. So there are quite a few pet sheep and goats.

When my son was growing up, he had a paper route. It was a rural area. One day one of his customers asked him if he wanted to go to the back yard to see their new baby goat. Kevin said first he needed to know if the goat was going to become dinner someday. When they told him it was a pet, then he was excited to see it.

It sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun.

I love that your son wanted to know the ultimate destination before meeting the goat! Same Kevin, same!

I hope so. We bought this property as our forever home, and got the biggest lot we could find so that our dogs could run and be happy. My husband isn't nearly as enthused about having all the critters I want, but...he knows my heart is in the right place and since I let him have a motorcycle, I get to have all the fur babies I can handle!
