Good Morning, Everyone! I am sure it is the first really Monday back to work for a lot of you. I wi**** was a normal week for me, but I actually have tomorrow off, too! I made a doctor's appointment over the summer and January 7th seemed fine at the time... but now that I have had 3 weeks with an off schedule, I really wish I didn't. Oh well! Not actually complaining ;)

How is everyone doing on their New Years Resolutions? I am happy with myself--today marks my 7th day of following my food plan to the T, and staying way under 20 carbs. And I finally got over myself and took my ass to the gym on Sat and Sun. I am starting back slowly and not trying to push myself past actually enjoying it. I have lost the holiday weight gain and now I am just back to the normal weight gain that I need to tackle. 6lbs will get me back to the high end of my acceptable range.

QOTD: Do you watch any of the late night comedians, regularly? I try to catch up and watch a few Jimmy Kimmel Shows a week and I catch the Daily Show and Steven Colbert, every now and then, too. They have all been on break for about 3 weeks over the holidays, so I am looking forward to a comedian's take on the events of the past few weeks! Hope to catch a few shows while I am off tomorrow to see what they are saying.

Morning! Back to the grind today, for sure. I just figured out that my teammate is going to be out all week due to a herniated disk in her back, so that's going to rearrange a lot of things I had on my schedule and I'm wondering what I'll find to fill those.

The thing I appreciate the most about time off for my kids is not having to pack their lunches! So, I'm sitting here putting that off but it needs to be done. My husband says that I create my own problem because I don't demand their pack their own. But, I pack them real lunches with real food. Demanding them to pack something themselves that was healthy and balanced would just as much work as doing it myself.

QOTD: I do no****ch anything akin to late night. Probably because I'm in bed by 9pm most nights. Jon used to watch the taping of the daily show the following day. I don't actually know if he still does that now that he's not working remotely.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x2
  • Egg, Cheese, Bacon Bits, English Muffin
  • Turkey, Salami, & Cheese Roll Ups, Strawberries
  • Pot Roast, a couple of potato lumps

I'm currently dealing with a hip injury and can't run. It's killing me. I need to call today to get into PT per my running coach. I've done a lot of stretching and rolling and so far it's not going away on its own.

Also, we committed to testing out grocery delivery this month. Our goal is to not step foot into the grocery store and see if we spend more or less money than a normal month. Has anyone done this and do you have comment? We're currently testing out Shipt because they deliver from Target, Harris Teeter, Lowe's (grocery store, not hardware), CVS, and Costco. It's $79/year or $14/mo and then as long as you have a $35 order there's no delivery fee. The groceries are marked up some (a few cents per item) and, although you don't have to, you should tip the delivery driver. We also have the option for Walmart Unlimited Delivery ($99/year) and PrimeNow (Wholefoods). PrimeNow is part of our Prime benefit and people have said that they shop only the deals at Wholefoods and actually save on meat and produce over the standard grocery store.

I'm thinking the groceries might be slightly more expensive given the tip and everything, but that keeping impulse buying to a bare minimum may actually save us money. We'll see!

I have done instacart a few times for aldi and publix. couple times on vacation and a few times here at the new house- ive also done the pickup through Kroger and have found that saved money. you can load coupons against the order and also give paper coupons.

We have only done grocery delivery while on vacation, I am too picky about my thinly sliced deli meat and my produce :). I went to Whole Paycheck last Friday and while the items with a Prime discount were a great price, I still spent $100 and got one freaking bag of groceries. Because of course I hit up the olive bar, got crab cakes, other proteins...ugh...

I think these services have improved over the past few years. I did it awhile ago from a local grocery and was always happy with what they sent. There were always a few things missing they were out of, so sometimes had to go to the store anyway.

Now the shoppers will text you and ask if you want substitutes.

Good morning all! Well I was supposed to start this like a week or two ago, but that didn't happen. However, I got my lazy butt out of bed earlier this morning, splashed some cold water on my face and got my workout done! Of course this was after I hit the snooze button! So now I don't have to worry about it when I get home this evening from work because I always dread it!

QOTD: I did growing up. I'd watch with my mom. She'd watch them all...flipping from one channel to the next. She stop does to this day. I don't really watch them anymore though.

Good job on the early morning workout! I love having my elliptical in my bedroom -- in a pinch, I can do it in my PJs, just put on sneakers...and I have!
