What's on your Saturday Menu, RNYers?

Gooooood morning, menu friends! I just spent 1.5 hours on a chat with Apple, trying to figure out why my MacBook wouldn't connect to the internet. I am still not sure what the answer was, but I'm finally connected, so that's a win :)

I just realized that I have absolutely no plans this weekend. Nothing! I can't even remember the last time I had a weekend with nothing to do. I definitely need to clean up and get myself organized, but I am going to try not to make plans with people and keep it low key, after a lot of holiday entertaining.

Accountability: Ended the day 200 calories over what I planned, but still only 14 carbs, so I'm feeling happy about that. But my keto strips say I am not in full ketosis yet, so WTH? I have been under 20 carbs for 5 days now! Maybe the strips are old...

QOTD: What's the last thing you did that scared you? I am going to the gym today. I don't know why but I have developed a bit of a phobia about it... it has been almost 2 months since I stepped inside. I think I am scared to see myself in a full length gym mirror and face the reality of how out of shape I have gotten. But ignoring it isn't going to make it better, so it's time to face the fear and go. I do work out on the elliptical and bike at home but it's not the same. I don't take myself sweat at home... Wish me luck!

If your system is working good, you probably can get into ketosis after you deplete your stored glycogen levels. Depending how full they were before you started keto, it may take a while.

Also - some fiber can be converted to simple sugars in our gut. My bacteria are very efficient to do that. For me I needed to fast for 24-36 hours, then avoid fiber, and limit proteins, but concentrate on fat intake. Also, if you are active, and your body makes ketones, you may be burning them and that's why they dont register on the strips.

Give it time. I know my glycogen stores get depleted when I had to pee all the time. It seams as I pee more than I drink. For me - the scale dropping by 3-4 lbs in 24 hours indicate I am using my stored glycogen.

Thanks Hala. That's helpful. I'm not giving up, just a little impatient.

JB, I hope you have a good experience at the gym! It's funny how things get in our head and then in our own way sometimes but you've got this! Once you're on the other side of it, you'll be asking yourself why you were worried!!

Congratulations on no plans!! My Sunday is like that. I did get out of the house a bit yesterday - but very low key for a pedicure. It was lovely! Today I feel less like I swallowed a box of hot roofing nails and more like I swallowed thumb tacks so I think I am on the road to recovery! I also put in to lamps in the living room yesterday and as a result, will be swapping the furniture in the living room with the furniture in the sun room (after I get back from grocery shopping and seeing little women!).

qotd - last week I did indoor skydiving and I went on the SkyFlyer over London - both scared the crap out of me but I did it!!

For better or worse, I've always been a "face your fears" person - have a stutter, terrified of speaking to people you don't know and make other people talk to the substitute teacher or ask the shop clerk questions? Join the speech and debate team! (The look on the coaches face when I walked in was priceless!).

menu today

coffee + half and half (and before the movie I will get a Dunkin with SF blueberry syrup and cream)

b - 2.5 oz turkey breast

l - 2.5 oz turkey breast

d -mozz and pepperoni (not) pizza

s - L&F greek

i am going to elliptical today also, I think it's a 30 minute set of intervals, so I'll do that while starting Dracula on Netflix.

have a fantastic Saturday everyone!

So glad to hear you are starting to feel better :)

I did it, btw! I went to the gym and didn't hate it at all... go figure how our minds work.

Good Morning OHers - I hope everyone is having the weekend they need, whether that is catching up on things or carving out some downtime.

I am brewing coffee for the kids, (well, the teens mostly) as a thank you for one of the older ones offering to do night duty with our youngest early bird so I could sleep last night. It was such a sweet gesture and I know it won't be long until he flies the nest at his age so... well, ya know...

I need to continue my mission of decluttering, donating getting our apartment mopped. It is a huge deal with the number of people we have and my health but it needs done.

I am behind on starting my gratitude journal for the new year but I am thinking maybe when I lay the littles down mid day when we have quiet time I can start that if I get dinner in the crockpot this morning (chili).

Looking forward to checking back later to read how everyone is doing and what fabulous things you all are eating lol

Mornin' Weekenders!

I'm going to do something later this morning that I hate doing and haven't done in ages - weight training. I've been doing fairly OK with cardio this past month, but I still have not made it to the weight room. Regardless of whether or not I like it, it has to be done. Maybe I can just focus on upper or lower body today - and do the other in a couple of days. May not seem as dreadful...

other than that, we're going to help MIL hang some of her pictures - and, well, not much else on the agenda today, although I have several things I've been procrastinating on that I really could be doing...like, Christmas cards, for example...

QOTD: oddly, i can't think of anything - so it's probably been a long time!

4 years 7 months out:

B: part of an omelet (I'll have 1/3 and DH can eat the other 2/3): egg, cheese, chicken sausage, green pepper, onions, tomato. Coffee with half & half

MS: probably won't need one after that breakfast, but I'll manage to get a protein shake in sometime today

L: salad with diced turkey and light dressing

AS: maybe I"ll have my daily protein shake this afternoon. Otherwise, L&F yogurt and/or raw veggies with hummus or ranch Greek yogurt dip

D: "reuben" made with turkey pastrami, sauerkraut, and light thousand island on a FlatOut Fold It

ex: weight machines!!!

Are you shredding your own cheese? I think manufacturers have to put something on it so it does not stick together. I remember my keto friends insisting that they had to shred their own cheese.

I went to WW this morning. I am officially down 1 pound since last week (7.2 overall). I had lost a little more, but then had a small gain over new year's. On WW they say if you follow the plan you should lose 1 pound a week so I am good with that.

I do think I need to stay under my 30 points to lose more (and not use my weekly points). I will try that this week to see if that helps. 1 pound a week is good but 1.5 is my goal.

I got 14,000 steps in yesterday, but my sleep was crap. I need to get my sleep on track before I go back to work on Monday!!

Today the girls and I have to go to the dentist for our 6 month cleaning. I hate getting my teeth cleaned. I always feel like I am drowning.

Nothing else planned today. I hope everyone has a great day!!

I haven't needed to shred my own for the chaffles--I t's melting just fine I'm the mini waffle maker, but that's good to know for other recipes!

Hope you get some good sleep tonight!

I think Laura's saying there's an anti-caking agent on shredded cheese that is potato based and may keep you out of ketosis.
