What's on your (Photo Friday) Menu, RNYers?
Good morning
Working off about 8 pounds of post-surgery/holiday bloat. I had septoplasty/turbinate reduction due to poor breathing and had about 10 days of yuck and pain (right through Xmas and New Years). Still recovering, but working back to normal on my activity now.
QOTD - this is one of my buttons as I am a believer we as a society are working our way into become like the movie The Matrix. I love the internet, but we survived before it existed with paper. We had files and systems and address books and yes, even Yellow pages where we called and talked to people. As kids we went out every evening and played with all the neighborhood kids. We had fun and we got activity and interaction. I was at a party New Year's day with about 50 people (20 of them kids). The adults were talking, laughing and catching up. The kids hardly talked to each other and every one of them had their noses locked into their phones. Sadly my wife has become one of these Matrixed people. We go out with friends and she spends 70% of the time looking at facebook. I've had a couple friends say it isn't fun when we are out because of this. How many freaking dancing cats and singing dog videos can you really watch. The internet and it's linkages are great, but you have to manage how it consumes your life IMHO. Rant over.
B 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1.5 eggs with a few veg
L 4 oz pork chop, small salad, piece of cheese
S Fage yogurt and 2/3 oz dried salami (split snack since I may have to work late or dump the salami if I go home at normal time)
D Kohlrabi noodles (spiralized) with veg, sauce and some smoked ham
S 2 squares dark chocolate
8 pounds up puts me at my hard lock cap, so I can't have anything in the form of a bad carb (except a bit of dark choc if my day goes on plan).
P.S. A few months ago the internet went down at work and since our servers are offsite we couldn't access our files. People sat around and couldn't figure out what to do. Some went home early.... I took a big pad a paper and laid out plans for a big project with templates for slides etc. It was actually great to force me into this process vs. jumping right in and building as I go. So again, internet good, but I like having the skills to live without it.

And proud to be ;) I remember the first day they ever had email at work.
Though I'm pretty close to a cusper
I love technology, but it just doesn't define me. The only reason I get p'd when the internet is down is that I can't ride my Peloton. My wife literally looks like she is going to cry when it happens. Thankfully, doesn't happen often.

I have seen entire families of 4 ignore each other at dinner and be glued to their phones. My friend and I agreed that whenever we go out we will not be using our phones. Why bother to go out when all you do is ignore each other? You are so right no one actually talks anymore, most younger people just text.

My family and I will text each other while sitting next to each other -- either ironically or talking smack about the rest of the family. It amuses us all.
