Happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate! I am back to work today, after a nice day off with family yesterday. We went to High Tea in Boston, then to the Christmas show at Symphony Hall :)

It was a lot of fun, but I managed to absolutely ruin it by getting upset about my body. I tried on no less than 73 different outfits before we left, and I was increasingly upset with each one. I was just having one of those days when I felt super fat. Poor Grim had to sit through the viewings of each outfit, while I berated myself. Instead of a fancy dress, I finally settled on a big turtleneck (see below), because I couldn't handle anything else.

Just one of those days, I guess... but I realize that I need to get serious about being stricter with myself again. It's all fun and games until you need to dress up for a fancy night out, right? I don't want to look at photos of myself and cry anymore. I should be done with that phase of my life, now.

Today is another hard day to calculate, food wise. Grim's daughter is hosting her first annual Christmas Eve party at her new house tonight, after I come home from work. She has purchased SO MUCH FOOD and none of it fits into my new resolve. [sigh]... I will try to eat enough dense protein before we go to avoid the food obstacles. Luckily I still feel bad enough about yesterday that I think it should be easy to say no.

QOTD: Do you have a favorite childhood memory about the holidays? When I was little we used to drive to my Grandparent's house on Long Island, then up to my mom's sister in upstate NY. I have really nice memories of the annual road trip and visit with my cousins :)

Have a great day of celebrating!

Also, I'm going to take the rest of the week off from posting, in case anyone wants to kick us off...! I'll try to get on for accountability but my treat to myself is to sleep in and take it slow on my precious days off!

Enjoy the holiday, everyone!

I am right there with you, JB. Yesterday my daughter took pictures of me with our foster dog. Holy crap!! I look horrible!!

I am working on losing my 30 pounds of regain as of Saturday. I joined WW and am on the green plan. So far I have lost 2 pounds. My goal is to lose 1.5 lbs/week so that the weight is gone by the summer. I will be OK if I lose slower than that as long as I stick to the plan and continue losing. By the end of summer for sure I want it gone so that I fit back into all of my work clothes.

I have also gotten back on track with my walking. I slacked off over Thanksgiving and had not gotten back on trac****il this week.

I get 30 points on WW and have spent 29 each day while earning fit points, that I do not plan to spend.

QOTD: All of my memories of Christmas are fond ones. This will be the first Christmas in 53 years that I do not spend it with my parents or brothers (my mom passed away in March) so I am having a hard time right now.

You got this, Laura! The idea of losing 30lbs before the summer is so exciting!

Sorry that this holiday is a hard one. Sending lots of love your way!

I hear ya - that first year after they pass is really tough. My dad's been gone for 2.5 years and holidays are still tough - but that first year, awful. Sorry to hear about your mom.

We think of Christmas as joyful and happy, but for many it isn't. Sending prayers and love your way,Laura as you celebrate without your mom. May you remember past Christmas times and make some new memories too. Oh,and the dog! I would love to foster but know I wouldn't be able to give it up. Dog pictures please!

Bo is sweet as can be with people, but hates our cats and puppy. We love him dearly, but he probably needs a family where he can be the only pet.

I am able to give them up because that means I can save other animals (I know my limits and only foster 1-2 at a time- right now we also have a kitten).
