What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?

Good morning!

Happy Tuesday everyone.

QOTD - OMG. It's like the question was designed for me! I am absolutely a Star Wars person. My husband and I belong to an international Star Wars costuming group called The 501st Legion. We dress up as various characters, and do things like visiting sick children in hospitals, attend comic cons and raise money for various charities, our favorite being the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I am watching the Mandalorian, and it is probably one of the most well done series I have watched in a while.

I am an original trilogy girl, and my favorite is Return of the Jedi. I can quote all the movies, I know the random trivia, and I also love the expanded universe, even the stuff that is no longer considered canon.

I am including some pics at the bottom of this post to show some of our dedication!

Breakfast- fruit smoothie, almond milk, chia seeds. Slice of toast with almond butter, soyrizo with some potatoes

Snack - none

Lunch - salad and veggie pizza

Snack - apple with almond butter

Dinner - Not sure yet, but probably a beyond burger with salad

Have a wonderful day everyone!

OMG this QOTD is totally made for you! This is hilarious! I mean you guys look amazing. I had no idea there were groups for Stars Wars lovers! And people who wear Star Wars costumes. This is a whole world I know nothing about!

Honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever done as an adult. I'm glad I wear a bucket (my black helmet) because seeing sick kiddos trying to get out of their hospital bed just to talk to you, or even hug you...it kills me. I cry a lot of tears under those buckets, and most of the people I troop with will tell you the same thing.

We have members on every single continent, and I believe we have hit the 10k mark for members. If you had told me that I would be in my 40s cosplaying Star Wars characters 10 years ago, I never would have believed it. But I love it, and I hope to do it for many years to come.

I've met some of my absolute closest and dearest friends there too. It's amazing to find other adults who are like minded, who also have a desire to give back to our community somehow.

You are in the 501st? I am taking a friend to Denver's comic con this summer after about 20 years of trying to persuade him and telling him about the 501st and all the good works you do was what finally got him to commit!

QOTD- I got Disney+ just to watch the Mandalorian. Baby Yoda is so cute. I binge watched the entire series but cancelled the service since there really wasn't enough to keep me interested. I love the original Star Wars episodes IV, V & VI and hated the I, II & III. I fell asleep during II. I've enjoyed the new movies and can't wait for the next one. I've tried to buy tickets but it's sold out for at least the first week. My most vivid memory was standing in line to see V and watching Mt St Helens erupting, it was surreal.

I quit the zoloft it had turned me into a walking zombie, and I'm slowly recovering. At least I can focus and get some work done. I did not taper off of it, just stopped taking it and so far I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms.

Colonoscopy found a polyp but it was non-cancerous so I can go another 10 years before I have another. YEAH!

My Mom broke her arm and is in a cast and bored out of her mind. She can't even knit... So I need to make it over to see her.

My weight is up a couple of pounds from the colonoscopy low, but is still good.

We have an atmospheric river headed our way and expect 2-4" of rain starting tonight. At least my sump pump is now working, as long as it doesn't come down too fast I should be OK.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for the positive wishes, everyone! I think it went well, and basically my boss has to decide between me and one of my coworkers who is frankly exceptional. It's going to be tough for my boss, but I won't be mad either way. The other woman would also be great to work for. I should know in the next two weeks :) I appreciate your support and well wishes!

My husband and I had gotten a baby sitter and gone to the movies one Saturday night. There was a problem with the movie we went to see and an announcement was made that they were going to substitute a new movie that was not going to be officially released until the following Wednesday.

The lights went out and we were introduced to Hans Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, R2D2 and the movie that would change our culture. On Wednesday, I went back to see it again. I love everything about Star Wars and waited for each new episode.
