I have not had kids but how is it that women only get 6 weeks off for Mat leave?? I mean, that's if they actually GET leave. It's awful.

Ikr? For me coming from Europe, the first time I heard I honestly thought they are pulling my leg. The state pays for 6 weeks. If you are lucky and accrued sick leave and vacation you can add to it. I can't remember now, but it was so weird because the 6 weeks the state pays it has a cap. So if you earn more, tough luck. Then after the first 6 weeks your sick and vacation kicks in. I was lucky enough that I had about 4 months with each kid. I say lucky, but from the European stand point this is barbaric. Most moms can stay home up to one year in Europe. After the first year you have the option of getting reduced pay if you want to stay home one more year with the guarantee that you won't lose your job. Oh, and maternity can start as soon as you find out or almost at two months, depending on the type of work you do. Both my sis and SIL being nurses went on maternity when they were 8 weeks pregnant and didn't go bac****il the kid was 2 years old. Aaaaaand, my sis had two kids 3 years apart, so practically after a couple of months she was back at work she went back on maternity with full pay! Of course, if you ask an Italian employer they would tell you that's why our economy is in the ****e!

I am glad you're on the other side, Sheila! How great to be home by evening, but I am sorry you are having pain. I remember Daisy had a ton of pain after her GB surgery. I hope it subsides soon.

I am also insanely impressed that you are on yet another liquid diet! You are a champ!

PS We just booked Italy for Spring Break!!!!! Rome, with a day trip to Florence and maybe a day trip to Naples. Needless to say, I am so excited to go to your homeland and show it to the kids!

Thanks Em! The liquid/soft diet was just an ironic coincidence.
I am soooo excited for your trip. Let me know if you want pointers for things to see.
Right off the bat, if I may, one day Florence or Naples is not enough. How are you traveling from Rome to Florence or Naples? I don't recommend getting a car, Italians drive like crazy if I say so myself. If train, and you really wanna spend only one day, gotta go the night before. If it were me, I would choose either Florence or Naples and have more days.
Also, while in Rome, book your Vatican tour beforehand. It amazes me how many ppl go to Rome and don't care about visiting the Vatican. It's amazing, no matter what religion the visitor believes in.
OK, so much for let me know if you need anything, I just spilled all my ideas. But I can go into details, when and if you need me to!

I know you will get lots of suggestions for Italy...but I have one---you must have a Coffee Granita...it was so good. Taza D'oro Coffee near the pantheon (and right near there was another church that had amazing trompe l'oeill ceilings. I think it was St. Ignatius so you could have coffee and culture:-)

Ok, making my only recommendation about coffee (even though it's so good) seems bad -- someone recommended the Borghese Gallery, which had not been on my list, before we went to Rome and it was amazing!! So there's my recommendation - Borghese Gallery, with the tour guide that will tell you all about the things you see....and there's so much to see.

This week is soooo long, glad we are close to the weekend!

QOTD - teleportation, my first spell would be to be eliminate travel time...I am here, then I'd be there in a blink.

Accountability - although I've been doing my pilates classes, for the last couple of months, I've been doing level 1 classes to really focus on form....this week, I"ve moved myself back to 1.5 and they are kicking my butt, which is good, but man, it's work!

Good job yesterday with fluids but my food choices were not the best

B - cin raisin cottage cheese

MS - light and fit greek

L - slice ham, slice turkey, half spoonful each Stuffing, Mashed potatoes, carrots

AS - pumpkin pie lean protein bar

D - 1 oz cheddar, 1 oz mixed nuts

ES - light and fit greek

Have a. great Thursday everyone, the weekend is in sight!
