To use a phrase from the kids today, that party sounds LIT! I hope you have a great time, it sounds like adult prom!

Hi all, happy Thursday!
My DIL, one of her nephews, two of her sisters, and her mother all have birthdays this week, and we're all meeting Sunday at a pretty waterside seafood restaurant. I have presents for all except for my DIL - I am still unsure of what to pick up for her. She and my son just bought their first house, so lots of options.
QOTD: The town I grew up in had an incredible Fourth of July parade and a fireworks display so enthusiastically excessive that it drew a huge crowd from a wide surrounding area as well as of course from the town itself. I marched in the parade both as a Sparky (little kids who took a course in fire safety given by the fire department. The big draw was their Dalmatian puppy) and as a Brownie. Marching in the parade was far, far less glamorous than it had previously seemed to me as an observer - it was very hot and humid, and Main Street went on for absolute miles! Being a colonial era town, of course we had a fife-and-drum corps and our share of marching Minutemen. NJ is very proud of it's history! We also had the Fishawack festival. Here are some images of that:

Up here on the island outside of Seattle, there are some art events, including a long weekend of open studio tours, where you can go from location to location, seeing various local artists and artisans in their studios. The small coastal town just over the bridge to the mainland has a 4th of July parade which is fun but very short, and it kind of ends with a whimper - we kept waiting for the end, not realizing at first that it had already taken place.
First: tea. Six cups.
B: HB egg,a little ham
L: Tuna.
D: turkey, tomatoes
I saw some persimmons for sale the other day and bought a bag. When I was a kid my mom would bring these home and put them on the windowsill to ripen - they take weeks! If you try them before they are almost squishily over-ripe, the tannins in the peel punish you without mercy. But I loved them! They are so delicious and unusual, and low in calories. Unfortunately I checked and their sugar content is seriously over the top! No way could I have a whole one. 1/4 would be the safest amount, 1/2 would pu**** Anyway all four of my purchases are ripening away on the windowsill, looking out at the PNW gloom!
I have been feeding two feral cats named Tarzan and Geraldine. Tarzan is brave enough to let me pet him, but Geraldine immediately hides when I approach. Anyway, I gave them a soft bed that my kitties never used, and inserted in it two microwaveable heating disks which, though not soft, do retain their warmth for a good 8-10 hours (12 hours actually have to pass before you can heat them again). The cats barely move from that bed now, the little darlings! It's on the porch so it shouldn't get wet. I also have ordered a large styrofoam box with which I will make an outdoor feral cat shelter. It comes on Monday. That will keep them warm even if we have heavy snow.
Have a great day, you guys!
