What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning, everybody!
The storms that are hitting a lot of the plains and upper midwest are just giving us rain/light snow in Chicago. I was worried that we were going to get caught up in a travel delay coming home from Kansas yesterday between the storms and the Thanksgving traffic, but we got lucky with rain in Chicago and little weather in Kansas City yesterday. It was also beautiful for the game on Saturday (at least until the sun went down).
Lawrence Kansas was a pretty cool town, lots of restaurants and coffee shops, etc. And KU seems huge. They have about 20,000 students but it seems much larger than that.
Today is our twelve days of Christmas workout. Three Deadlifts, 2 clean and jerks, one push press, etc, 365 repetitions, all in. So festive.
QOTD: We used to love to play outside in the snow. Sledding was the best. We also skated on ponds in our neighborhood and played pond hockey.
Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese
Snack: Light and Fit
Lunch: Chicken
Snack: nuts
Dinner TBD.
Have a great day, all!

I have a friend who lives in Lawrence, and I went to visit her several years ago (maybe 20 years ago?). I was pleasantly surprised by the town - it didn't at all fit the picture I had in mind. It seemed like a really fun little city! You're right - several neat restaurants and coffee places. I could totally see living there!

Glad you didn't get delayed--sounds like the whole country is getting hit in one way or another... I was very glad to be home this year :)

G'morning JB and all,
Hope everybody had a great thanksgiving. I was off line most of the time enjoying the company of friends and family. The only person missing was DD who spent thanksgiving in your neck of the woods, JB, in Mass on the coast at a friend's. I think the town is called South Hamilton but then went to her grandma's home right on the beach, Gloucester...or something like that.
We got the Xmas list from the kids and divvied up. DH did all the shopping for DS and I did for DD. I'm happy to report the kids are DONE, I just gotta get something for DH (the most difficult person to shop for) to top it off his bday is also near Xmas 12/22, so the rest of the month you'll hear me whining about not knowing what to get him for xmas & bday.
QOTD: no snow where I grew up, we were on the coast, I remember a couple of snow days growing up but it didn't stick to the ground. We made up for it though by going skiing. We were a skiing family and as soon as the slopes opened up we spent every weekend on the mountains. It was a blast and my dad was the ring leader. During high school the group had gotten so big that my dad hired a mini bus to drive us up, we always had friends over. Great memories. Those friends still remember my dad as the hero of our teen years, he was the cool dad.
My meals yesterday:
- coffee, coffee, and more coffee with PP as creamer
- Top of two slices of pineapple and ham pizza ( didn't eat the crust)
- Sushi - ordered mine with cucumber wraps
Have a great start of the week, and for those of you in the cold, stay warm.

Husband shopping is tough! Some gifts I have gotten Kris recently or upcoming (he also has a birthday in Jan dammnit!):
Ear pods (wireless headphones, which he loves)
A soda stream and some flavored syrups so we can stop buying sparkly water
Quip delivery toothbru****'s electric
Shirts and jackets for his favorite college football and NFL teams
An iPhone case for his favorite team
A couples massage gift card (see how I did that? Included myself!!!)
A total overhaul of really nice socks since his were getting a little threadbare.
A new winter coat that he loved when he saw online
I know this may not help but just in case it sparks an idea :)
You are sooo good at gift giving!

I looooooove giving gifts. I pretty much hate receiving them. I get myself anything I want, so I am pretty tough to buy for. Kris has tried over the years - there was a brand name purse (I am so not a brand name person), a cupcake maker (from the kids, but I mean how often do I make cupcakes?), an air fryer (loved it but it was too small for more than one person's stuff, really). I hate to see money wasted!
Probably my favorite thing he got me was a flour jar for the counter with all of our names on it (including Chloe, the cat!). I love those kinds of sentimental things...
