I've seen a couple of thousand postop plans, and I've never seen one that restricts water for the first 8 weeks. It makes zero sense. When you can eat a steak, then you can also drink more.
I couldn't even begin to count the number of those post surgery who suffered from dehydration. It's super common. Everything from mild nausea, tiredness, dizziness, to passing out. And it's all avoidable.
Keep sipping. Aim for 64 ounces. After two weeks you can certainly get that much in.

yeah, I'm seeing that now. My surgeon's plan is for the first 2 weeks to limit to 4oz's each waking hour. And when I start my soft phase in about another week and a half, it calls for a minimum of 60 oz of fluid each day but with no restrictions of the amount per hour. But I guess when you think about it, in the first 2 weeks you can get that in if you're awake 16 hrs of the day which isn't unusual. I'll have to ask when I go back why the hourly limit of oz's in the first 2 weeks because I'm seeing now from other posts that it's odd!
