What are some of the signs of dehydration I should watch in particular for? I know dark urine.

For me the symptoms are any or all of the following: feeling queasy, feeling "shaky", feeling that "something's not quite right", dizziness, feeling flushed

And what would you do besides continue to drink water to rid yourself of those feelings? I get occassional headaches but I know I can only drink 4 oz's an hour right now. So trying to figure how to combat.

You may want to touch base with your care team, that sounds like the minimum fluid requirements, not a max. My minimum was 64 oz a day from day one.

They said no more than 4 oz's an hour while awake, so I guess if I stay up longer I can get more in, lol.

There is zero reason why there would be a maximum amount. 64 oz is the absolute minimum for all of us. I think you have misunderstand the program instructions

No, I most certainly didn't misunderstand. You must remember, I'm not even a week post op. When I eventually advance to solid food, then my pouch will be able to tolerate what my surgeon recommends as a 60-80 oz daily hydration goal. But for my initial 2 weeks I am limited to 4oz's per hour. While I hope your "intentions" of your post were not to be of a criticizing nature, I would have thought a "veteran" of the program to be a bit more kind-hearted in response to a newbie. But I will chalk it up to me be "over sensitive" in adjusting to my new way of life.

Veteran in quotes? Alrighty then, I'll put that down to your "sensitivity" in this early stage, shall I? For information, someone becomes a veteran here after 5 years, so I just slipped in lol.

There was no ill "intentions" towards you, but if this liquid restriction is a rule of your program it makes zero sense, so let's say I'll save any side eye for them. Dehydration is the leading cause of returning to hospital after surgery. I'd be interested in the statistics of your program on this - I'm guessing they're higher than average.

You've had great advice on this thread regarding the importance of staying well hydrated in the early stages post surgery. Shame none of it helps.

I wish you luck in staying healthy until released from your program rule.

We've all been less than a week post op. That's what makes a veteran and veteran--experience.

Dehydration is a ***** Kim is not.
