What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Hello menu family and happy Fri-yay!
QOTD:I saw this a couple of days ago and literally snorted my coffee. It's me to a T. My answer is always chocolate, 2nd thing would be cookies!
I've had a pretty busy week and that's why I was sorta MIA. Hopefully next week things will be calmer and I can be a regular on OH. I had an aha moment at the conference that I need to share with you. Pre-WLS my blazer was my armor, it didn't matter how hot it got in the conference rooms and even if I were drenched in sweat that blazer would not come off. It was there to hide all my lumps. Never mind it was a size 18 and I looked like a line backer (or is that a quarter back?) Anyway, I took these pics on day 2 of the conference with blazer open, blazer closed, and blazer OFF! And you know what? Not trying to be vain, but I looked OK in all three. So when the conference room got hot I wasn't embarrassed to take my blazer off! Yay!
The second was not so much an aha moment but a "wow, I missed this" moment. I was a big bubbly water consumer pre-op but once I was told no soda or bubbly water I kissed them good bye. At one of the tables, I asked for water and they put a tall glass with a wedge of lime in front of me. I didn't even pay attention and while talking I took a sip of the water. OH EMMM GEEEE, I MISSED that flavor. That slightly salty water with lime in it. I never realized how much I missed my bubbly water till that moment. I expected my stomach to rebel or do something but nothing happened. I slowly sipped on my Perrier like it was fine wine while thinking I shouldn't drink this, but what the heck. In short, I had bubbly water but won't drink it again, at least I won't buy it.
One last pic, sorry for posting so many pics, somebody up there was painting the sky.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

there doesn't seem to be a consensus among surgeons about sparkly beverages once you're a few months out (early on though, most of them say no). Some say never, some say OK if it doesn't bother your stomach. My surgeon was a never, but I started experimenting with them when I was about three years out. I can't handle heavily carbonated things, but if I let it go a little flat first, my stomach is usually OK with it...
You are always sweet to me! Thanks!

So Cute. I used a Levi Jean Jacket. Only 1 of three Pieces of my wardrobe I did not get rid of. Do you know how hard it was to find a Levi's Jean Jacket in a 3x? I still put it on and people complement me on it even though it is hanging on me.

Hah! I stayed away from denim (top and bottom) while overweight! I bought my first denim jacket since my 20s last spring. Size S!!!! In fact I had to ask for Amber's help because I kept buying M and they were too big and didn't have the look I wanted. She finally told me to go one size down and tada!

You look great in all three, Sheila! It takes me a long time to realize that fitting looks better than baggy. And after so many years of being diamond shaped it still shocks me (pleasantly) every time I put on a shirt that is fitted through the chest and shoulders, only to find it loose in the stomach

Mornin'!
I've been sleeping really well since I got back from my trip - 7+ hours every night (according to my Fitbit), but not last night. Hopefully I can make it through the day. I have to go talk to a pre-op group later on this morning, then I'm meeting a friend at the low-carb cafe for lunch. We have a wine & cheese thing tonight from 7-10 (it's just a drop-in thing, though - we don't have to stay the whole time). We're supposed to bring either an appetizer or a dessert. I made cranberry/almond/white chocolate biscotti last night. Unfortunately, it's wonderful (they were kind of crumbly so I ate some of the pieces that fell off). Hopefully they'll be gone by the end of the thing tonight so they're not sitting around tempting me. I'm usually more prone to go after salty fatty things than sweet things, so I thought I'd be OK - but these things are the bomb! Hopefully I can get some exercise in today, too - I'm feeling like a slug.
Accountability - not good yesterday. My lunch out was far too many calories. I should have skipped dinner, but I was hungry by around 7:00 so I had some yogurt and a SF latte, which put me over. And then, there was the biscotti...
QOTD: good pizza for sure. I also love ice cream (one sweet thing I actually love!!)
4+ years out:
B: plain Greek yogurt with a homemade fruit sauce, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: at the low-carb restaurant. Either the teriyaki meatballs over zoodles, or the pad thai (made with zoodles)
AS: I was going to say raw veggies with ranch Greek yogurt dip, but I'd better do something more filling so I don't blow it at the wine & cheese thing tonight. I may have some peanut butter on celery - or maybe mix a little tahini in with some plain Greek yogurt (for a veggie dip). Or maybe have a bowl of high fiber cereal (??)
D: appetizers at the wine & cheese thing. Hopefully someone will bring raw veggies (although someone always does) so I can pile my plate with those so I don't overdo it on other things!!
have a great day, all!!
