What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?

Ha, that little hamster was me this weekend, after I finally brought down my warmest winter things from the attic. I still fit into everything, but a few things required an extra wiggle!

Boston finally got the weather that the rest of you have been complaining about. "Feels like" temps are in the single digits and we had our first dusting of snow last night. It will be interesting to see if I can handle the walk from the train to work in the cold with the wind chills, or if I will cave and take the bus.

Accountability: Pretty good. I completely forgot when I was writing my menu that I was meeting up with a few old friends for dinner at a place called Ghost Pepper Tacos (yay!), so dinner was cod tacos and a white wine sangria :)

QOTD: What were your school lunches like as a kid? Did you buy them or pack them? I never once bought a lunch, my mom always packed them. It was always a sandwich and a piece of fruit. She never ever packed me chips or cookies and I was so jealous of all of the skinny kids who had yummy treats. I was also jealous of the kids who bought lunch on Friday and got pizza. Basically, I just spent my childhood jealous of people who had better food than me, lol.

Morning! My race this weekend was good - so, so hard but good. I managed to finish in a little less than 2 minutes below my goal for myself. I was pretty happy with that given that I ended up miscalculating my goal time based on a faster pace than I expected to achieve and I did!

It's currently about 20 degrees here with a wind chill in the single digits. I actually was wondering if they would delay school, because North Carolina can't hang with cold weather. This is apparently record low temps! So far there's been no news of delays though.

We have a chili cook off and bake off at work today to benefit a local charity. I baked two things, but I'm looking forward to trying to the chili!

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x2 (and maybe a latte this afternoon)
  • Breakfast: English Muffin, Sausage, Egg, Cheese
  • Lunch: Chili
  • Dinner: Meatballs & Sauce
  • Snacks: Apple w/ PB, Power Crunch Bar

Good morning everyone! Finally had to break down and turn on my heat last night. I'm just not used to this cold weather! Lol. I just need to make it through tomorrow and then I'll have my three day weekend for the long awaited girls trip! I cannot wait!!

QOTD: it was was a mixture for me. I remember bringing my lunch in elementary school, but sometimes I'd get the salad bar and that was like a treat for me. For some unknown reason, as a kid I loved salad! I mostly bought lunch in middle school and would normally get their pizza and on fridays I'd beg my mom for extra money to buy ice cream. All the kids would buy ice cream and I didn't want to be left out. Then in high school I'd normally hang out with my friend outside. She'd normally just get a bag of chips from the vending machine and we'd sit outside and chat so I followed suit and had chips as well. Real healthy I know! On cold days we'd get a cappuccino and sit outside. Other than that, I don't remember eating much else in high school.

B: premier shake

Good morning, everybody!

I hope that you are feeling better, JB - I don't like to see you feeling sick so much. Reading the cold remedies, yesterday, it amazed me how some people are so in tune with their bodies. I am clueless. If a jar of whey fell off the top shelf and hit me in the head, I might understand that whey was the problem, but otherwise, no.

This summer I went to see my dermatologist. She said:

"Can you feel that spot on your cheek?"

"No"

"Put your finger right there and feel it"

"I can't feel anything"

"You can't feel that scratchy area?"

"No"

She took a deep breath, sat down, looked up, at me and said:

"I will never understand men for as long as I live"

Its another cold day today, but I think that the weather is going to get a little better. We signed up for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning and I really hope its warmer by then. I am afraid of slipping on the ice if its still frozen.

QOTD: I was with you on the bringing lunch. Sandwich and fruit in a paper bag. In high school i worked at Market Basket, so I had money to buy my lunch. Later we had open campus and cars so we started going to the buffet at a local chinese restaurant most days.

Breakfast: Leftover steak

Snack: Protein bar

Lunch: Pork

Snack: Light and Fit

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day, all!

Good Morning! I need to get some wiggle room back in some of my jeans. It is still strange to me to wear clothes from the year before- prior to surgery it always seemed I needed new clothes every year because I wasn't the same size as the year prior.

Accountability: On plan

QOTD: we always took our lunch until jr. high and then I bought mostly junk(cool ranch doritos I'm looking at you!). When we took lunch it was a sandwich/chips and usually a fruit and dessert.

Yes! In fact I am a little annoyed that I don't get to buy an entirely new wardrobe every year... it may have been the only joy of getting a little fatter every year, lol.
