Good morning JB and menu crew. Sorry to hear you are not sleeping well JB. Love your meme, always watch the clock when not able to sleep. Happy hump day. Good week thus far, weather is not looking favorable for all of the trick or treaters in our neck of the woods, 90% chance of rain....all day....

QOTD - No longer Hunt or Fish, but can clean both, as many of you know we hike the Adirondacks , the furthest I have been is 8-10 miles from civilization/roads. I can read a map, use a compass and carry both in my day pack as well as multiple layers, emergency blankets, I keep enough extra items to survive at least one overnight in the woods. One of the most valuable tools is a water filter and water tabs, we can live much longer without food thank water.

B - Ham roll up and slice of havarti

L - pulled pork salad with cheese

S - cukes and spinach parm dip

D - grilled shrimp

E - gym night, arms, shoulders/back and cardio

Stay healthy my friends, Mike

Insomnia is the worst, JB I hope you win your struggles with it. I wish I could say I get through it without drug assistance but I love my lunesta. It almost always guarantees me 6 hours of sleep.

QOTD- I probably could survive when I was much younger I used to go backpacking. And until I was 14 my parents would take use camping every weekend in a little 13' Aloha trailer with an icebox. Mostly to unimproved camp sites, or logging roads. I've been through most of Oregon but I haven't camped for a long time. I've been wanting to buy a small trailer and attempt it again. There really are some truly beautiful places in Oregon. I always wanted to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from end to end, but it's probably way too adventurous for me now. I can't even get myself out the door for the 50 mile challenge let alone like 2000 miles, don't remember how long it is anymore.

Like most of you the nighttime munchies have hit me too. I need to rein it in...

My roommate is still struggling, he has to use a walker now. He has an appointment with his surgeon this morning, he's been having all of the symptoms of lactose intolerance so I hope they figure it out. He transitioned to soft foods a couple of days early, but tolerates salmon and eggs, but is struggling to stay hydrated.

My Mom has agreed to do a rental agreement but is not charging them nearly what she should. They haven't moved in yet, but it will be in a about a week. I don't think that a young newlywed couple are going to enjoy living with an 84 year old woman and 2 cats that run the house. But I've been known to be wrong. At least she isn't letting them move in without an agreement. I'm going to try to get access to her bank account to figure out what has been going on. I am joint on the account but I don't know the account #, also I do have a durable power of attorney. So I should be OK.

Wearing lightweight long underwear today in an attempt to stay warm. I also have a heater under my desk, that I try not to use all of the time. Maybe it's time to bring in a blanket?

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! Sneaking under the mid day wire at least!

JB, have you considered a weighted blanket? I still short sleep but since I got mine a few years ago, I no longer wake up every 30-45 minutes.

The sun is shining and lovely blue skies, so very cold, but only about 10 inches of snow accumulation in the non-drift/non-piled up areas!

qotd - I have some skills but have always hoped that I went first in the zombie apocalypse! Roughing it is really not for me.

Menu is a bit up in the air but I've had all the coffee with pp, onto lots of water. I've had an ounce of mixed nuts and a Greek yogurt. Lunch will probably be motzarella and pepperoni and dinner might be a protein bar as I'm supposed to be going to a photography class.

have a great rest of Wednesday everyone!

I've never experienced a weighted blanket - how does it feel? I'm a fan of down, warm and cozy, but light as a cloud.

Well, I need both arms to "throw the covers aside"...they recommend you by the weighted blanket based on your weight and mine is from pre surgery so it's the heaviest one that was available where I bought mine. Rule of thumb is 10% of your body weight but mine was 25lbs which was their max.

I really like it and I'm used to the weight so while I've briefly thought about getting a lighter one, I haven't done that yet. you know how they recommend you swaddle/burrito babies? I feel like the weighted blanket is the equivalent of that! I do wake up more frequently when I'm traveling and don't have it.

The best I can describe how it feels is if you took one of the eye masks that are filled with the beads and had one for your whole body -- it's heavy and warm! I use mine over the sheets in the summer and between a sheet and my blanket and then comforter in the winter, so I get the weight but all my other things are softy-soft so I have the best of all worlds! Mine is about the size of a twin blanket so just puts the weight on me be there while bed.

I had gotten one last year for my nephew - he has significant PTSD from his military service and he used it but had told me that it was really for his dog because Snuff likes to cuddle underneath it, lol. He had to travel for work a few weeks ago and told me that nope, it's really for him because his sleep was very fractured since he didn't have it.

one of my friends says she gets the same effect because she has several blankets on top of her duvet but just over her legs, so I think there are different ways to get the same soothing.

sorry if that is way too much detail, lol

Not at all, it's interesting! I prefer very lightweight down, cozy and cloud-like, like being in whipped cream - to a heavy blanket, but I can understand how grounding, warm and secure a weighted blanket could feel. Thanks for your description.
