Good morning. Its a blustery day in the PNW. I despise the east wind. I am always afraid a tree is going fall on my house.

JB- Could it be hormones??

I had surgery yesterday to remove the melanoma from my leg. I have 13 stitches on my inner thigh above my knee. It just aches. I am glad it's over. Stitches come out in 10 days and we will review pathology to see if any further steps are needed.

Accountability- We rented a house at the beach last weekend for my birthday. I didn't go too crazy, but ate off plan. The sad thing is, that it wasn't even worth it. I came home feeling bloated and my guts ache. I was on plan yesterday and I am feeling better. My body does not like carbs. I am my own worst enemy. You would think I would learn.

QOTD- I think I could survive! I grew up in poverty. I am very resourceful. I can fry anything! LOL!

Food for today-

1 egg, 2 oz Boarshead garlic ham, 1 slice light swiss,

smoked chicken sausage, cabbage

baked halibut, asparagus

chomps or light and fit if needed.

Lots of water, vitamins always

I'm with you there, as a survivor of the Columbus Day Storm I am truly afraid of wind. I was so young and terrified and it never really goes away. On the positive side there have been beautiful sunrises since it is so cold and clear. Vivid pink skies turning orange and finally that gorgeous blue, that is usually in such short supply here in the PNW.

Good morning, everyone! JB, I am so sorry to hear about your insomnia. That's the worst. Being exhausted affects me SO much. It affects my mood, my ability to concentrate, my willpower...so much. I don't sleep well and my FitBit tracks my sleep and scores it. Last night I got 7 hours, the same as the previous night, but a much lower score (I was very restless and was up from 4-5 am). Ugh.

QOTD: hells to the no. I hate bugs, spiders, mosquitos, snakes etc. I am not a camping person. I would glamp in a fancy cabin with a hot tub but that's about it ha ha.

I finally decided it's time to DO something about my regain and not just keep complaining about it. I signed up for 3 months of Weigh****chers (WW as they have rebranded themselves!). I did WW like 15 years ago, and it's definitely different now. For one, they have an app. Also, they have a bunch of zero point foods like skinless chicken breast, eggs, tuna, most vegetables, tofu, beans, etc. So basically you get rewarded for eating high protein low carb. I hope it works. I really thought WLS would mean no more diets for me, but alas, year 5 has been Regain Central for me.

B: coffee with 1 tbsp of heavy whipping cream (out of half and half), sugar-free hazelnut syrup, and in a little while 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese mashed with two hard boiled eggs and everything but the bagel seasoning

L: A can of tuna mixed with 1 oz goat cheese and artichoke/olive salad from Aldi

D: Thai chili chicken from our delivery service EveryPlate, which I just canceled. The protein quantity isn't enough for the two of us. It is served with white rice/scallions and roasted carrots, so I may just make cauliflower rice for myself as a side.

E: Nothing, I have a super busy work day and I have to go to the car dealer at lunch so I know I will be working very late.

Have a fab day, everyone!

Em,

I am there with you. Regain is a *****! My doctor told me that everyone has regain. I don't want to be like everyone! I too thought that I would never have to diet again. This journey is harder than I ever thought. I am not going to give up though. I am going to give it my best every day. Let me know how WW goes. I have thought about it too. Are you going to meetings or doing it online?

I was SO confident and thought I had this in the bag. Years 1, 2, 3, 4...I maintained more or less. I had had plastic surgery and thought I would be in the 160s forever and ever. Then, life. I gained a bit. I was afraid to get on the scale. I avoided it. I wore leggings. I stopped weighing food. I thought I could eat "normal" food with my family. The list goes on and on. And here I am, at a weight I swore I would never be again! Still a thousand times healthier and lighter than pre-surgery, but not at all happy with where I am!

I did the online one since by me there is one meeting on Wednesdays at 6 pm and that doesn't really work with my schedule. But the app seems pretty intuitive and has tons of great content! I am hopeful that this will work for me...it's really something that forces you to track food and eat high protein and low carb. That worked for me the first time around when I lost nearly 200 lbs so hopefully it works again. I just have to maintain the willpower...

You will always be a person that I value their input and advice. You have had many changes during your journey. I think the toughest one is cooking for a Family, I struggle with what we keep at our disposal, there are some things I just cannot have in the house.

I think you are on the right track and you are ready, I am rooting for you my friend.

Thank you, Mike...I really appreciate the support from you and the others here. I feel like I have someone in my corner, ya know?

Definitely having to live with others is a challenge lol. I am happy to just sauté up a bundle of shrimp or eat some cottage cheese as a meal, but everyone else wants actual food ha ha. I just have to have more willpower and self-control. I can't expect everyone else to eat exactly like me.
