Morning! It's gloomy and foggy here this morning, but it's supposed to be a high of 80 tomorrow for our trick or treaters. I'm going to cross my fingers that the storms they are predicting hit before/after that time frame. This will be the first year I'm sending my kids out alone to trick or treat (with groups of friends of course).

QOTD: I grew up on a 900 acre dairy farm and this girl can do pretty much all the survival things - build fires, source mushrooms from the wild, hunt, clean fish/game, thread a worm on a hook. The idea of bears don't scare me but moose do! Look at this Moose that someone back home (upstate NY) posted about this week. Look at him compared to the trees!

My Food:

  • Pre-Breakfast: Coffee w/ Cream x2
  • Breakfast: English Muffin, Sausage, Cheese, Egg
  • Lunch: Broccoli Salad (I made a version without sugar and added dill)
  • Dinner: Meat & Veggie, I think I'll need to shop before this
  • Snacks: Cottage Cheese, Apple w/ PB, Fiber One Bar

Is your brother a butcher or does he just really love good bacon?

A little bit of both. He worked in a slaughter house during high school and after it burned down he butchered in many different meat markets. Growing up Italian my family was always making sausage prosciutto capicola, sopressata etc in the basement. My brother likes keeping those traditions alive so he continues to teach the younger generation of our family how to do this and pass on the recipes. But working in meat markets for both a Greek family and Slovenian market he has mastered the art of Slovenian Kielbasa and Souvlaki (Greek Lamb Kebabs) Not much he can't do to meat. He no longer does it as a profession just as a really bad hobby.

That's awesome!! As a good polish girl, I'm always looking for good kielbasa! Fortunately, we have a small polish restaurant near my office that makes their own and will sell it wholesale to you.

I just got off the scale so I thought I'd update you guys (I wanted to wait until today to weigh so any water weight would be gone). Miracle of miracles - I only gained 1.5 lbs while in India. Amazing. All that walking evidently helped, because I was eating A LOT! (or a lot compared to my usual, anyway...). Oh happy day!!!
