What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
on 10/30/19 11:27 am
I'm so glad that your power is back on. I have family and other friends in CA and am monitoring the news closely, as I am concerned about everyone's safety and homes. How are your eyes? Are you guys wearing masks? I found that rinsing my eyes liberally with saline water helped during the last apocalyptic round of Santa Barbara fires I experienced. I'd hold a folded wash cloth under my eyes, tilt my head back, and squirt away. It helped. You guys are on my mind. I hope that you, your family, and all of our OH Californians remain safe! May your power stay on! Hopefully the winds will calm down and the fires brought under control very soon.
Hey Cara! We are nowhere near the fires, so far. There is one in Ventura County and another one in Sonoma. We can't even smell the smoke(due to ocean breeze). The only discomfort was the PG&E arbitral choice of shutting power just in case. It's weird because especially in our area all the cables are under ground. Anyway, I don't have any rights to complain after seeing what the fires are doing to people's homes. I'm happy with not having power and even the food in the fridge going bad if everybody is safe. Praying for those in the path of the Santa Ana winds.

I really want to be on a jury! But I don't want it to be for anything violent, or with drugs, or children or disturbing so essentially, I want someone to fight a traffic ticket and I want to be on the jury for THAT!

Good morning menu friends! No walk for Miss Lily and I this morning as it is pouring and has been most of the night. We'll try to get some steps in later but will depend on the weather. Accountability was spot on stepwise and substituted one slice thin crust pizza for supper. Weight today is 121.4. QOTD no unless my youngest son was with me. Here's the food plan for the day B 11/2 protein pancakes with sugar free syrup L 1 slice thin crust pizza D 4 oz pork chopS if needed 3 peanut butter crackers. Have a wonderful day full of smart choices everyone! Time for some coffee!
Mornin'!
Finally got some decent sleep last night (6.5 hours), and the times were almost back to normal (c. 10 pm - 5 am (I woke up a couple of times during the night)). Great! Maybe this jetlag won't be as hard to shake as I'd thought...
later this morning I have an appt with an endrocrinologist at the osteoporosis clinic. The drug they've had me on for the last couple of years (Reclast) doesn't appear to be doing anything. Hopefully they can find something that will work. This afternoon I have to take my mother to an ophthalmologist appt (she has macular degeneration and gets occasional injections in her retina. Sounds awful - but she says they numb her eyes so much that she can't feel it. Thank God!). I also need to run over and visit my mother-in-law sometime today or tonight, too. Haven't seen her since I got back from India on Sunday. She was hospitalized with pneumonia while I was gone and is back home now, but on oxygen. She seems very depressed and very worried that she'll have to be on oxygen the rest of her life (DH says she probably only will until the pneumonia is completely cleared up - but MIL is convinced otherwise and is really freaked out about it. She won't even leave her apartment, which I'm sure is just making her feel worse...). So anyway, that's my exciting day...
Accountability was fine up until we went to my mom's last night to celebrate her birthday. I had half a turkey wrap as well as cake & ice cream. Would have been OK if I'd have just stuck with the half turkey wrap, but N-O-O-O. At least it wasn't awful, but still...
QOTD: oh good Lord no. I can't even handle one night of camping!
4 years 4 months out:
B: protein pancakes with Greek yogurt, cooked apples, and SF cinnamon syrup, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: dal (made it with mung beans this time). Maybe the other half of my turkey wrap, too.
AS: L&F yogurt or raw veggies with ranch Greek yogurt dip
D: I may pick up some half-price sushi. Otherwise, turkey meatballs with zoodles
have a great day, everyone!
