RNYsurgery at 70
It will require a lot of discipline and attention to what you are doing. Make sure you take your vitamins and minerals, and stay on top of your lab work. I had RNY at 59. My body no longer absorbs iron from supplements, so I have to have iron infusions when it goes too low.
There are newer iron supplements that are easier on your system and better absorbed. If I were having surgery now, I would look into those. Dont be afraid to ask questions here. Hope to hear more about your experiences.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Yes. I'm 4'11 and I lost 90pounds. I have had 20 pounds regain but I'm working on that. In the last few years I have to fight grazing. It's a process. One thing I've noticed is becoming complacent is easy. In the beginning you lose easily, but after a number of years it's more work but it was worth it.

I'm happy for you! RnY quite honestly gave me my life back, after years of feeling utterly metabolically stuck. I had this 2 years and 4 months ago, at age 64. I went from weighing 353 to weighing 126, and best of all, once again love to move! I believe that it takes determination and single-mindedness to move all the way down the scale to where you wish to be, and more of the same to stay there. Obesity really is a lifelong threat for us - this doesn't go away. It is an illness that will always lurk in us, waiting opportunistically for an opening, but with care and continuing attention, it can be managed. RnY is massively helpful! You can definitely do this, and enjoy your 70s and beyond with renewed vigor, stamina, and good health. Please keep us posted! Best of luck to you.
