Let's talk about ACV

Unfortunately, a lot of the hype around ACV is total bunk.

Yes, the "mother" counts as a probiotic, but it's probably not as strong as you could get elsewhere. The appetite-suppressant properties are questionable. It may help with your blood sugar, but it's not worth relying on if you have diabetes. It won't control your high blood pressure or cure cancer.

I think this one falls into the "not much help, but no harm either" category, and it's not as though you're wasting a lot of money on it since it's reasonably cheap.

Additionally, turmeric's claims to help inflammation and joint pain? Also pretty much bunk.

I'm ok with that. I'm not saying either of them are a cure-all, and I'm the first to go to a doctor if I feel something needs attention. That being said, I feel better now at 45 than I did at 25. I think becoming vegan, and trying to feed myself as well as possible to include the supplements I've added has helped. The weight is coming off again, and I'm at the lowest weight I've been in over 5 years.

My post wasn't originally to indicate that I was using any of those things as a replacement for medicine, simply that I feel really great using them, and was interested in talking to others who may be benefiting from them or other supplements.

Thanks for the links though, and I appreciate your opinion that stuff I'm really excited about is all "bunk". For me, since I feel amazing, I think I'll stay on my track and keep doing what works for me.

*edited to add that I don't have cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, or any of the other specific ailments mentioned in those articles. If I did, I would be under doctor's care.

Yup, definitely do what gets you excited and makes you feel good! But remember that the placebo effect is A Thing. :)

On the thread below there are a bunch of posts from me about vegan foods that I've found helpful in my diet. If you have any suggestions to add, I'd love to hear them.
