What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning!
last night I canned 22 pints of spaghetti sauce and 8 quarts of crushed tomatoes after scoring a great deal on 50 lbs of end of season tomatoes a farmer just wanted to get rid of. I was up way past my bedtime! But that will likely be the last canning of the year.
a coworker had to unexpectedly go to California for family stuff, and will be there for 2-3 weeks. I know one of our mutual coworker friends typically looks in on his two cats, but she has been in Chicago for work, so I offered to help. Apparently, he has lots of backup-he added me to a group chat, a shared calendar, asked one of them to give me the "kitty tour" of his house since he wouldn't have time before he left, made me a key, and asked my T-shirt size so he could get me a "Kitty Krew!" shirt. I'm still happy to help, but I'm very amused at this operation. Clearly, I didn't know what I was volunteering for!

Good morning all! Third try to log on and post but I'm going to stick with it until I hit Submit this time
My nuclear stress test went well yesterday with no chest pain or shortness of breath. I haven't heard back from the cardiologist yet on what they found but the basic diagnosis is a right bundle branch blockage. Just don't know yet what is causing it...stress triggering something. I came home after the test and did some telework but about 4 got super lightheaded and dizzy and almost passed out (no clue what caused it). I called the cardiologist and they suggested super hydrating because of the dye used in the procedure. It took a couple of hours to feel better but I did. This morning woke up feeling okay but got slightly lightheaded after I had a cup of coffee...argh!! I want my coffee! Fingers crossed that I don't need a pacemaker but if it will help me feel better, not the worst thing in the world. Easier time with TSA and the police/security at work...lol!

Definitely not enough water the past couple of days. My roommate finally got out of the hospital yesterday, which is one of the reasons I was short on H20. We had to run around and do shopping and get a prescription filled that ended up going to 2 different pharmacies. I blame this on the opiod issue, as it was for 60 dilaudid and they can't do a partial dispense and the first pharmacy did not have enough pills. The second one needed to verify with the on call Dr that the RX was OK, and finally his insurance wouldn't pay for it as they believed he was on other pain meds, which he hasn't taken for 6 months. That was over an hour of my life I will not get back. Plus I ended up going 8 hours without any food, and very little water hence the dreaded constipation this morning...
The worst issue is with my Mother. On Tuesday night she decided to tell me that she has a young newlywed couple moving in with her tomorrow. They are getting married today. She is 84 and lonely, I'm not sure why a newlywed couple would want to live with an 84 year old woman unless it is to exploit her. To explain the situation she has a landscape company that overcharges her, not only that but the daughter of the owner is "renting" her shop which she has not paid a dime for the last 2 years. The couple that is going to move in is the son of the owner of the landscape company. They would really like to have her house, which they cannot afford. And she admitted to my roommate that she is going to charge them below market rent. Not sure what that is but I need to make sure she has a signed rental agreement that spells out her expectations. She believes that they will cook and clean for her. I seriously doubt it. My brother does not want to get involved, he lives in CA and was leaving yesterday for Maui. So once again I am left to deal with this.
I was so angry I hung up on my Mom and have not called her back. I need to get my ducks in a row and prevent this from happening. I've enlisted aid from everyone possible, and have contacted her attorney to see if he will draw up a rental agreement. I'm not sure what to do, I believe I will contact the parents and tell them that I have a power of attorney and that their son will not be moving into her house. I don't want to see her exploited, and I don't want them to try something to get possession of her house, she owns it free and clear. Anyone have any advice for me???
Thanks for your help and have a great Friday Eve!
Edited to say my roommate he's 6'6" and has already lost 42lbs since surgery!

Wow. I believe your correct hope you can get these people away from her. Getting the lawyer involved is smart. Maybe you can help cook and clean the house so she doesn't feel she needs anyone else. I pay a housekeeping company to take care of my mom and my brother and I share responsibility on cooking for her but check into meals on wheels in her area usually cost effective and a nice meal. My moms 81 and keeps me crazy as well. Good luck!
