What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?

QOTD: I use my filters. The filters are very helpful but I am probably subscribed to too many emails. I have learned to not allow it to bother me quite so much. I used to be very annoyed if I didn't feel on top of every email in my inbox but I have learned to triage things a bit.
I am still working on finding a balance with eating and getting my fluids orally with all of my vitamins and medications vs. tube feeding, the carafate, etc. The mango health app helps but tbh sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day and decisions have to be made. This really bothers me but it is one of those Serenity prayer situations.
The plan for today is homeschooling the children, (aka nailing jello to a tree), laundry and "everything else", and the MOST exciting thing is that today a dining table with matching chairs is set to arrive. This may seem like a small thing but y'all, it seats EIGHT. I will be able to enjoy meals and extend hospitality to a friend or two. Family game nights around the table. It will make schooling the younger ones easier to have everything in that set up. I am over the MOON and it isn't all about food. I really feel like so much more than the sharing of a meal happens around the family meal table and I am so excited to have one again soon. I have a special meal planned tonight and eventually I will get around to finding cloth mats for each setting and a table runner, assigning seats for each child/teen, etc.
Accountability - Doing what I can when I can. Just keeping it real. On task with fluid and vitamins one way or the other.
B - morning vitamins and PP shake/coffee
L- ?
D- the plan is to dice sweet potato and red potato in the crockpot and top with chicken thighs and sliced onion and chopped garlic, (for the rest of the fam.)
I don't sleep well at night and depending on how delivery of this new table goes on top of homeschooling and staying on top of teen's work schedule, etc., I am not sure if I will get any down time today but I really feel like I have hardly anything to deal with when I read how much others do. It helps to keep things in perspective, for me to read these daily accountability threads. Life is not an excuse to not get things done. Life is the REASON for putting in the effort. (Note for myself). We are almost to the weeks end. That is a nice thought. I am considering a visit to the farmers market on Saturday to choose pumpkins with some of the littles.

My sister's dining room table is one of my happy places so I completely understand what you are saying when you are excited about your table.

Hi JB and all,
Thanks for the reminder from a few of you about Boss' Day. I completely missed it and I feel like a jerk. I have an incredible boss and I just sent her a note to tell her so.
QOTD: So. Many. Emails. I swear, working for a global company means I wake up to 20+ meaningful emails (from European colleagues) and get many at night (from APJ colleagues). It's never-ending. Early in my career, I filed by topic. Then, when starting a new job, someone told me to file by person's name, since you may not remember much about an email, but you usually know who it came from! That worked awesome. Now, for some reason (maybe because I use Outlook on a Mac?) I wasn't able to set up private folders so I have 26,308 emails in my inbox lol. Sounds insane but somehow I manage. I can normally find whatever I need, searching for the person's name or a certain word.
Speaking of, I just got a new laptop from work in the mail. I haven't set it up yet because I assume it will take a full day and be very frustrating. So it's just sitting here and my cat has decided that the plush box it came in (for me to ship the old one back) is a napping spot.
I did kickboxing cardio last night and let's just say I am not 30 anymore. My body hates me.
B: Aidell's jalapeno mango chicken meatballs and goat cheese
L: grilled cheese (from our meal delivery). Not an ideal meal but a delicious one.
D: Shrimp and tomato soup (separately)
E: Resting!
Have a fabulous day, everyone!

Wow, I had never considered how a global economy impacted emails. That sounds crazy. I had to laugh about the cat though. I have never been a cat person per see but my partner is totally a cat person and one of my teens is a cat person so guess who has had to learn all about the crazy animal called a cat? ;) Your menu looks lovely. I hope everything tasted as great as it read. I have always wondered what it would be like to have a meal delivery service but it wouldn't be practical for several reasons for me. Maybe someday.
Oh yes, the global economy means that I have presented on webinars at 11 pm to reach Singapore or India...it's fun 99% of the time to be able to work with and learn from (and travel to!) other parts of the world, but midnight calls are not my favorite.
I have done two different meal deliveries and while I think I could possibly cook the same for slightly less money, what I like about it is that it prompts me to make different recipes. Two nights ago was linguine with tuscan "hot" seasoned chicken breast and a creamy sauce...last night was lemon oregano chicken with persian cucumber, red onion, tomato on top of white rice with a feta cheese "drizzle". The drizzle was a dollop of sour cream, 2 tbsp of feta, mashed up and with 2 tsp of water added to make it a drizzle. It was quite good. But this service sends 10 oz of protein for 2 meals (10 oz of chicken, for example) which isn't enough for my partner and I both (I can eat about 4-5 oz and he can easily eat twice that).
I am obsessed with my cat - she is so quirky and loving and funny and crazy. I hope you love yours!
I came from a work world where letters were dictated by the boss and written in shorthand, then typed and signed, put in envelopes and sent through the regular mail or inter-office mail.
Before Xerox machines, copies were made with carbon paper when you typed the original. When email started, I would get one or two a day, so they were easy to keep cleaned out.
Now I am retired and still get too many to deal with them properly. Most get automatically sent to trash.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
White Dove, I remember having an office wide meeting because we got this new thing thing called "voicemail." At the time, we were told that the expectation was that we would return peoples calls by the end of the day after the day that they left a message. i.e. call them by the end of Wednesday for a Tuesday morning message.
Now some of our offices are getting rid of phones altogether and people are just skyping on their computers.

I was working for EDS which was owned by Ross Perot. We were to answer a phone on the first ring. He said EDS would never let a machine answer a customer call. And in our culture everyone was our customer. The client, management, your fellow worker.
How the world has changed.
