Happy HUMP DAY! I love when weeks start on Tuesday, and we make it half way though in the blink of an eye. I slept so poorly last night. I don't know why, but I couldn't get my temperature right, and couldn't stop my mind from racing. I wasn't even stressed--just couldn't "turn off". I hate that. I finally gave up at 3:15am and grabbed my phone.
Accountability: I forgot to eat my egg for breakfast before I left the house, I had a small handful of potato chips at an afternoon meeting, and I SWEAR I went to the gym, but got there to find I hadn't packed a shirt, lol. The I skipped dinner because I was too lazy to move once I hit the couch. Also, I left my work water bottle and didn't drink anything but my coffee...
So to sum up: no sleep, not enough food, succumbed to snacks, not enough water, and no gym. Self care = still at toddler level. Oy.
QOTD: Do/Did you play an instrument? I faked my way through the clarinet for a few years as a kid but hated it and never got good at all. As an adult I learned to play the keyboard a little on my own by watching videos, but I can only manage a basic tune.
Exercise: Nothing formal, but I am officially walking 3+ miles every day without fail by skipping the bus. It's my favorite part of the day!
G'morning all!
It's mid week and on Sat I'll be back on a plane US bound. Why is it that weeks crawl by when you are working but zip by when you are having fun?
It's been so good for my soul to hang out with my family. There were no extra plans for when I'm here so I'm just part of their day to day life and this is exactly what I had missed. When I come here with my husband and kids there are always a flurry of activities planned, but this time it was just me taking a peek at what life is all about.
My mom finally made me my all time favorite di****'s comparable to your comfort food Mac & cheese. Since I was a kid I loved her cauliflower soufflé; for me that smell and taste is home and childhood memories. It's practically a cauliflower head, besciamelle made at home (not store bought - oh the travesty) and tons of cheese. See? I was eating cauliflower before cauliflower was trendy!
QOTD: I played piano for 2-3 years but hated it and begged my parents not to send me any more. I still remember the French teacher that would hit me on the fingers with a ruler.
I know it's not pic day but I'm really excited to share these with you, so bear with me. Last Sun we went antic shopping. The 4-5 little towns near by rotate the location of the antic market every Sunday. Driving to the location I saw this street (via), I'm sure in the past I have driven through these vias without giving them a thought. But now with more Americanized eyes I was oohing and aahing over the trees and the narrow via that two cars go by without even slowing down.
I have tried to keep up with some modicum of exercise. We are walking a lot but not to the point I feel like exercise. So I try to sneak in 2-3 times a week a 10K early in the morning while the queen mum is asleep. Lo and behold my view during my morning walks.
I'll be back on Mon posting regularly. Until then un abbraccio!
Ciao!

Great pictures, Sheila! Was that an Alfa Romeo that you were driving last week?

WOW, those pictures are magical, Sheila! What a great trip you are having.
I totally hear you on the "hanging out doing real-life" things. Kris's parents and sister come for a week every Christmas. I used to try to plan a zillion things but I realized they just like to wake up, drink coffee, hang out and chat, and do regular things. It's really fun for them to just be part of our normal activities. We still do bowling one day or an escape room, or go downtown, but we spend a lot of time at the house too, which they love :)
Have a great time and sending you a big abbraccio as well!
