What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
OMG Sheila, catching up a day late! Espresso at the dentist - amazing! Though if I were the dentist I am not sure I would want that breath coming up at me.
I was on a call with a coworker in Sausalito yesterday who was on day 2 with no power. He said people are going to Paneras nearby and waiting two hours on line to PLUG THEIR PHONE IN (apparently they have a generator). I am so not a doomsday prepper and we have like 4 bottles of water at our house. Oops. Something to think about.
I am glad you are having a great visit. I would love to be in Italy right now!!!
According to my brother coffee breath is better than onion/garlic breath...hence the offer of espresso in the waiting room!

Good Morning JB and Menuers,
JB I hear you about trying to get back here to catch up with everyone. There is just no time during my day and then in the evening I am so mentally exhausted I can barely function. I am glad to read that you did eat a little more yesterday.
Ten minutes before dismissal yesterday one of my dear darling 5th graders pulled the fire alarm and the entire school was evacuated. This is not a drill children - get out of the building kind of alarm! (Teachers are usually warned when we are having a drill.) It is so out of character for this child and I am sure I will hear all about it today when I get to school. Have I mentioned this has been the weirdest start of a school year in my 23 years of teaching??
My teaching partner is still filling in for the guidance counselor and the substitute yells instead of talking to the students all day long. There are kids with social-emotional issues that scream, yell, curse, kick and spit most of the day and the special educators are pulled to take them to the 'calm down' room', crazy parent emails and the list goes on and on and on. Teaching is not what it use to be.
Accountability: so much better!
QOTD: I sleep on my left side on the left side of the bed. Max takes up the most space ever!
B: PP shake
MS: HB egg
L: insides of a turkey sub and raspberries
AS: pear
D: beef and veggie soup
I will get in 100+ ounces of water, vitamins and hoping for a walk with Max (it's starting to rain!)

I think it is really admirable to read of an educator taking the time to take care of themselves and their health as you are so correct that your job is STRESSFUL. I have dear friends who are teachers and I have overheard student teachers discuss events of their days in the classrooms and I worry they will burn out before they even get their feet wet. I have witnessed, (as a parent) situations that you mention in your post on a common basis. We homeschool; however, we do use the public schools as needed in a partnership type way. I am definitely not anti public school. I do see how spread thin our own local schools are and it sounds like it is not limited to my community. It is such a different world. (Boy does that make me sound OLD, lol).

Not sure if you've had a fake fire alarm pull before, but FYI.. it's catchy. Hope the other kids didn't get the memo.

Well, I learned something yesterday. You can be arrested for pulling a fire alarm when there isn't a fire. I had no idea because it seriously never crossed my mind. Anyway, it was all over the game truth or dare, the girl is a follower and so badly wants friends so she took the dare and now has three days of out of school suspension. I swear this year can't get any more whacky!

Morning all. Short post today before I head into work. I'm still half asleep and my arm is still a little sore from my flu shot yesterday. At least it's wednesday.....halfway there.
QOTD: yes I am. I'll start off sleeping on one side of the bed and then wake up on the other and wonder how the heck I got there? Lol. It's a good thing I don't share my bed. I don't think I'd know how to share it. Lol
